Abstract. glasses containing 10 to 20 BaO mol% were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction, density measurements, differential scanning calorimetry and Raman spectroscopy. Glass density decreases with increase in BaO concentration from 10 to 20 mol%, due to replacement of heavier TeO 2 by lighter BaO, however glass transition temperature (T g ) increases significantly from a value of 318 o C to 327 o C due to increase in average single bond enthalpy of the tellurite network. Raman studies found that glass short-range structure consists of TeO 4 and TeO 3 structural units and BaO modifies the network by producing the structural transformation: TeO 4 TeO 3 .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
