Hemodialysis nurses have an essential role in ensuring conformity to the hemodialysis standards and providing effective and safe patient care. Also, hemodialysis nurses play a vital role in providing efficient, coordinated, and focused patient care ,tasks that contribute to direct patient care are subdivided into three phases (the pre dialysis phase, the intradialytic phase and the termination phase). Education and training are two components of staff development that occur after an employee's orientation. Methodology: quasi experimental research design was conducted in the hemodialysis unit of International Mansoura Hospital (IMH). Socio demographic data & Nurses' Knowledge about nursing care standards of hemodialysis vascular access patients questionnaire sheet was designed after reviewing the related recent literature to assess nurses' knowledge. It contains 12 questions related to nursing care standards of hemodialysis vascular access. Performance checklist regarding hemodialysis vascular access care including 12 steps was designed. All available nurses (30) during the study period employed in hemodialysis unit with various age, qualifications, years of experience, different level of education, and willing to participate voluntarily. Results: The present study revealed that: (a) the total means knowledge score of nurses was increased after sessions. (b) The total mean practice score of nurses was increased after sessions. Conclusion: Nursing care standards recommendations are essential for nurses working at the hemodialysis unit. Nurse's level of education and years of experience was positive correlation with their knowledge and performance, but it was not statistically significant.
The chronic metabolic disorder diabetes mellitus is a fast-growing global problem with huge social, health, and economic consequences. It is estimated that in 2010 there were globally 285 million people(approximately 6.4% of the adult population) suffering from this disease. Therefore, the aim of the study was to determine DM patient's Adherence to therapeutic regimen. Methods A descriptive-correlational design will be used in the study. Barriers of diabetic patients' adherence to therapeutic regimen was designed after the literature review. Convenient sample of this study composed of 100 adult patients of both sexes who met inclusion criteria using standard questionnaires were studied to determine the demographic characteristics, medical history and the patients' barriers of adherence. Results The results revealed that the majority of patients about (53.1%) forget their medication as a barrier to adherence to medication. About (28.1 %) cannot adhere to medication due to medication cost and only about (18.8 %) of them use medication when feeling ill.. About (66.7 %) of patients with type II diabetes mellitus cannot stop smoking due to life stresses and about (33.3 %) of them have no desire to stop it. The majority of patients cannot adhere to follow up due to transportation difficulties about (94.7 %),and about (2.6 %) of patients cannot adhere to follow up due to lack of waiting places and long waiting time. The majority of patients about (77.5 %) can not adhere to diatary regimen because they are not prepared to change their habits in diet ,and about (2.5 %) can not adhere to dietary regimen because they use it only when feeling ill and also about (2.5 %) can not adhere to dietary regimen because no one tell them about the food that they have to avoid. The majority of patients (68.8 %) can not adhere to exercise due to inability to practice exercise and about (3.1%) cannot adhere to exercise because there is no suitable place for practice .
Chronic metabolic disorder diabetes mellitus is a fast-growing global problem with huge social, health, and economic consequences. It is estimated that in 2010 there were globally 285 million people (approximately 6.4% of the adult population) suffering from this disease. Therefore, the aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of instructional learning package on knowledge and self-care of diabetic patients at mansoura university hospital. Setting The study was conducted at endocrine department at specialized medical hospital, Mansoura University, Egypt. Tools, three tools were used (1) Demographic characteristics and medical history interview sheet, (2) Patients' knowledge Questionnaire for DM, (3) Self-care of diabetic patient's questionnaire. Methods Quasi-experimental research design was used in this study. Knowledge and Self-care of diabetic patients' questionnaire was designed after the literature review. A purposive sample of sixty adult male and female patients were included in this study admitted through a period of 6 months from January, 2019 to June, 2019 diagnosed with diabetes mellitus confirmed by diagnosis in patient file. Results The results revealed that the total mean score for patient knowledge about disease and patient self-care were higher in the post intervention more than the pre intervention. The total mean score for patient foot care was higher in the post intervention than the pre intervention. The total mean score for insulin self-administration was higher in the post intervention than the pre intervention.
Coronary heart disease (CHD) has been the most common cause of death for both women and men. CHD is a chronic condition needing long-term rehabilitation measures to decrease mortality, morbidity and improve quality of life. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a long-term multifactor rehabilitation program aimed at the secondary prevention of cardiovascular events. Therefore, the aim of the study was examine the effect of cardiac rehabilitation program on cardiac physiological risk parameters of patients with coronary heart disease. Methods Quasi-experimental research design was conducted in the inpatient & outpatient for follow up unit in cardiology department of the Specialized Medical Hospital at Mansoura University Hospital. Convinces sample of this study composed of 74 adult patients of both sexes who corresponded to inclusion criteria and divided alternatively into two equal groups study and experimental. Results the result indicates significant improvement in physiological risk parameters in study group after rehabilitation sessions. Conclusion positive effect of cardiac rehabilitation program on improvement of cardiac physiological risk parameters of CHD patients.
