The aim of this paper is to develop an optimization model for quality improvement by considering quality investment in rework policies and supply chain profit sharing. To improve product's quality, the decision of process target and its tolerance is important since it directly affects the defective rate, manufacturing cost, and loss to customer due to the deviation of product from its specification. In this research, two rework policies are considered. In the first policy, the rework is done by using the same manufacturing facility, while in the second policy a new process facility was added for rework. Quality improvement in the supply chain environment is also necessary. Hence, profit sharing system is added in the model to strengthen the commitment of the suppliers in improving component quality. In the system, the manufacturer shares the profits to the supplier if the supplier can meet or exceed the quality target specified by the manufacturer. A comparison is given to determine the best quality improvement policy between those two policies considering profit sharing system. From the results of the optimization, the managers can make economic investment decision economically to correct a defective product through cost optimization model and to choose the best option toward the goal of least unit production cost. By using this model, the decision-maker can evaluate any quality investment in order to achieve significant financial return.
PT. XYZ merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang otomotif yang memproduksi komponen kendaraan dan perakitan mesin. Pengendalian persediaan yang mendukung proses produksi merupakan suatu proses internal yang cukup vital bagi operasional perusahaan otomotif karena banyaknya mesin serta target produksi untuk memenuhi permintaan konsumen. Insert tools merupakan salah satu alat yang sangat penting dalam memastikan keberlangsungan proses produksi yang menggunakan mesin CNC. Potensi terjadinya kerusakan dan masa pakai yang habis dapat terjadi kapan saja, hal ini berarti persediaan insert tools harus selalu tersedia untuk digunakan pada waktunya. Penelitian ini menyediakan solusi bagi masalah pengendalian persediaan perusahaan. Dengan menggunakan metode EOQ perusahaan dapat menentukan pembelian yang optimal sehingga dapat meminimumkan total biaya inventory. Selain itu, Klasifikasi ABC digunakan untuk menentukan prioritas insert tools yang memerlukan perhatian lebih dalam pengendalian persediaannya. Hasil penelitian ini adalah keputusan persediaan jumlah order quantity yang optimal dan ekonomis dari berbagai insert tools, jumlah safety stock dan reorder point. Hasil klasifikasi ABC, dari 27 insert tools diklasifikasikan menjadi: 6 jenis insert tools kelas A, 5 jenis kelas B dan 16 jenis kelas C. Hasil klasifikasi ini bisa digunakan perusahaan untuk prioritas pengamanan persediaan insert tools.
PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company which engages in Defense and Commercial. One of the facility tools used is a disamatic machine which is a machine that produces shoulder components for railway tools. This machine is an old machine, so that problems that arose on the production floor were often caused by the cessation of the process on the production floor due to machines stuck, machines damaged, or machines not running properly so that it can reduce the machines productivity. The method used in analyzing this problem is by calculating the value of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Six Big Losses to identify the performance of industrial machines. The results showed the OEE value owned by PT. XYZ is 61.94%. This value is still below the standard value set by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), which is 85%. The factor which influenced the lower OEE value was the low-efficiency performance, which is 68.29%. Based on the Six Big Losses calculation, the most dominant loss causing a decrease in machine effectiveness was reduce speed losses, which is 42.38%. This factor was analysed by Pareto and fishbone diagram. The result of this research can be useful for the company to increase their productivity which will increase their profits.
Penelitian ini mengevaluasi kebijakan inventory khususnya pada persediaan cutting tools di salah satu departemen engineering. Kebijakan yang diterapkan saat ini dianggap belum optimal yang ditandai dengan sering terjadinya kekurangan persediaan cutting tools ketika dibutuhkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengklasifikasikan cutting tools ke dalam 3 kelas berdasarkan analisis ABC, serta menentukan besarnya safety stock dan reorder point dari cutting tools yang termasuk ke dalam kelas A (prioritas). Dari hasil analisis ABC cutting tools yang termasuk ke dalam kelas A adalah sebanyak 10 item yang merepresentasikan 68.60% dari total pemakaian biaya, kelas B sebanyak 11 item yang merepresentasikan 21.40% dari total pemakaian biaya dan kelas C yang merepresentasikan 10% dari total pemakaian biaya. Dengan penentuan safety stock terbanyak dimiliki oleh cutting tools jenis LOMU 100408 ER yaitu sebanyak 375 pcs dan reorder point paling besar dimiliki oleh cutting tools jenis 490R-140408M-PM 1020 yaitu sebesar 516 pcs.
