O envelhecimento condiciona a uma progressiva redução na capacidade fisiológica e na diminuição da habilidade de respostas ao estresse ambiental, levando a um aumento da suscetibilidade e vulnerabilidade as doenças, principalmente as parasitoses. Parasitose é o termo usado para definir toda afecção causada por agentes parasitários, incluindo suas manifestações patológicas. O objetivo desse estudo foi descrever o perfil epidemiológico das parasitoses intestinais que afetam os idosos no Brasil nos últimos 10 anos e catalogar quais os principais parasitas em maior prevalência e por que atingem os idosos nas regiões do país. O estudo foi realizado através de revisão integrativa da literatura sem aplicação de meta-análise sobre o tema parasitoses intestinais no Brasil nos anos de 2009 a 2018. Nesse estudo dos artigos mostrou que foram analisadas amostras parasitológicas de idosos, com idade entre 65 a 80 anos, sexo feminino e masculino, residentes em casas de repouso na zona urbana, com maior prevalência dos parasitas comensais Entamoeba coli e Endolimax nana e a técnica mais utilizada foi a de Hoffman. Existe necessidade de estudos mais completos sobre a situação das taxas de prevalência de parasitoses intestinais em idosos no Brasil dada a escassez de trabalhos voltados para o tema em questão.
Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar o perfil epidemiológico da Hanseníase no estado do Maranhão. Estudo transversal de caráter retrospectivo dos casos de hanseníase nos anos de 2018 a 2020 no estado do Maranhão, região nordeste do Brasil. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de consultas à base de dados do Sistema de Informações de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN), disponibilizados no Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (DATASUS). As variáveis utilizadas no estudo foram: macrorregiões de saúde, sexo, escolaridade e forma clínica. Entre os anos 2018 a 2020, de acordo com o DATASUS, foram notificados 10.776 casos de hanseníase no Maranhão, com média de 3592 casos/ano. No ano de 2018 foram notificados 4.195 casos em contraposição ao ano de 2020 com 2.316 casos, sendo o menor número de casos nos últimos 3 anos. No presente estudo foi observado que a hanseníase foi predominante no sexo masculino, na macrorregião Norte, nas pessoas da raça parda, em pessoas com baixo grau de escolaridade e a forma clínica mais comum foi a dimorfa. As condições sociais e vulnerabilidade associam a hanseníase a situações precárias de higiene e baixo nível econômico, levando a dificuldade de acesso à saúde. Espera-se, portanto, que os órgãos estaduais e municipais de saúde, promovam ao acesso a informações de saúde para população afetada, ações que promovam melhora dos indicadores de controle da doença no Maranhão, visando aperfeiçoar os aspectos relacionados à educação e saúde, tendo maior atenção ao público masculino, para que o tratamento da doença ocorra de forma eficiente.
Covid-19 é uma doença respiratória causada pelo SARS-CoV-2, transmitida pela inalação de gotículas liberadas através da tosse ou espirro, que ocorre através do contato com membranas bucais, nasais e oculares contaminadas. Pessoas contaminadas com Coronavírus (HcoV) geralmente desenvolvem sinais e sintomas, incluindo problemas respiratórios leves e febre persistente, uma média de 5 a 6 dias após a infecção. A infecção ocorre através da infecção lítica de oligodenrócitos, danificando a bainha de mielina dos neurônios. A desmielinação pode iniciar uma doença chamada Encefalomielite Disseminada Aguda (doravante: ADEM), que é uma doença autoimune, uma doença inflamatória difusa rara do SNC. É uma doença monofásica, caracterizada por um ataque generalizado, mais notavelmente a matéria branca do cérebro e da medula espinhal, que danifica a mielina, que é uma camada protetora de fibras nervosas, e pode causar sequelas neurológicas graves se não for identificada e tratada precocemente. Os principais sintomas neurológicos encontrados foram alterações no nível mental, variando de confusão a coma, ataxia e déficits motores focais, além de sintomas de síndrome respiratória aguda grave. Diante dessas considerações, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o aparecimento do ADEM após a infecção pelo vírus Sars-coV-2. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica com abordagem descritiva sobre a ocorrência da ADEM, o levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado por meio de uma pesquisa nas bases de dados científicas: GOOGLE ACADEMICS, SCIENCEDIRECT SPRINGER, Medical Publisher (doravante: PUBMED) e SCIELO, coletando artigos, teses e livros entre os anos de 2016 e 2021, em inglês e português.
Parasitoses intestinais são um grande desafio para a saúde pública no Brasil. A prevalência destas doenças varia em diferentes regiões devido às condições sanitárias, nível educacional, entre outros fatores. O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a prevalência de parasitoses intestinais entre residentes do município de Pedreiras, Maranhão. Este estudo retrospectivo analisou prontuários médicos do laboratório municipal de Pedreiras, no período de janeiro a março de 2018. Os dados coletados foram idade, sexo e diagnóstico descritivo. Dos 1.189 laudos avaliados, 67,7% eram do sexo feminino. A média de idade foi de 41 ± 7,1 anos, sendo a faixa de 19 a 59 anos a mais prevalente (48,4%). Entre protozoários e helmintos, os mais frequentes foram E. coli e A. lumbricoides, respectivamente, sendo o último o mais prevalente entre todos os enteroparasitos identificados. Houve uma predominância de monoparasitismo (90,3%), e nos casos de biparasitismo a associação E. coli/E. histolytica foi a mais frequente (64,1%). O município de Pedreiras apresenta uma alta prevalência de enteroparasitos, com destaque para A. lumbricoides. A população do sexo feminino com idade entre 19 – 59 anos é a mais afetada. A partir deste estudo, medidas públicas podem ser elaboradas para reduzir o impacto das enteroparasitoses nesta população.
