Parking lots on the side of the road result in a decrease in the capacity of the road, therefore it is necessary to provide Park and Ride (P&R) parking building facilities. The existence of parking building facilities must support the safety and smooth traffic. In addition to smooth traffic, an evaluation is also important to determine the quality of service in order to meet user expectations of parking facilities. The method used in this research is Importance Performance Analysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the assessment of the quality of service from the Mayjen Sungkono Surabaya Parking Building in terms of user perception. The questionnaire survey was conducted in the Mayjen Sungkono Surabaya parking building with a sample of 120 respondents. The results showed that parking building users were not satisfied with the services of the Mayjen Sungkono Surabaya parking building manager, one of which was in terms of reliability, namely the ability of officers to explain the service process of parking facilities.
The case of climate change expand accelerated than before caused by human-made emissions happened in the street. Coastal cities such as Surabaya are needed a thermal comfort urban place to be the solution. Through the sans pareil streetscape, we can understand which configuration are more (or less) effective for creating thermal comfort urban place. To explore this, we surveyed Raya Darmo Street, Polisi Istimewa Street, and Diponegoro Street Surabaya, Indonesia (N=25). The method using is micro climate analysis with software ENVImet which simulated the micro-scale interactions among urban surfaces, vegetation, and the atmosphere. In this method, it is necessary to measure the thermal comfort index by computing the Temperature Humidity Index (THI) from the data for each thermal station. In the results of this microclimate analysis, six color distributions produced, which showed the climate level. From the color distribution at 12 a.m., showed that no comfortable spaces found on all three streetscapes. There are as many as 90% of streetscape cuts included in the criteria for being uncomfortable on Diponegoro Street. On Raya Darmo Street and Polisi Istimewa Street are included in the requirements of being uncomfortable with a percentage of 49% while the rest are moderate criteria.
Traditional tropical architecture is built using local materials by applying passive design strategies to fix heat problems so the occupants feel comfortable and protected. Over the years, climate change causes rising temperatures and modernization causes the aesthetic element to become important in urban areas. Modern Tropical is a design trend that is now developing after the era of modern minimalist trends which not only tried to solve the heat problem but also the aesthetic problems of tropical architecture. This research aims to evaluate thermal performance in the modern tropical-style house in response to climate change and also how they adapt and modify traditional tropical architectural elements to improve their thermal performance by using the simulation method with the assistance of ECOTECT software. The results showed that houses that adapted and modified elements of traditional modern tropical homes up to 95%, showed better thermal performance. That house can provide thermal comfort for 7 hours and only 31% of percent dissatisfaction. Elements of roofs, openings, sun shading, and local material coatings on traditional architecture are elements that can be adapted and modified in modern architecture. So, tropical architecture no longer looks old fashioned but more stylish while responding to environmental issues.
