AbstractThe present study aimed to determine and spatialize the environmental fragility indexes of the municipality of Paripueira-AL. In order to achieve this objective, a method proposed by Crepani et al., 1996 was used in which it was necessary to know the geoenvironmental characteristics of the study area since the method proposes the integration of pedology maps, slope, altimetric amplitude, and use and occupation of the soil. With the application of the method, it was possible to identify that 8.63% of the territory of the municipality has a very low environmental fragility; 34.0%, low; 9.36%, average; 24.0%, high, and 24.01% very high. The elaboration of the map of environmental fragility made it possible to know the environmental fragility indexes and may serve as a subsidy for the elaboration of the municipal master plan, allowing the process of urban expansion to have the least impact on the local ecosystem.
