Devido a pandemia da COVID-19, sem tempo suficiente para se prepararem, alunos e professores deixaram a sala de aula para vivenciar uma experiência de aprendizagem remota. A fim de compreender como tem ocorrido esse processo de ensino-aprendizagem, foram entrevistados 26 alunos(as) de 17 e 18 anos de idade, atualmente matriculados no terceiro ano do ensino médio de uma escola pública. Com esse estudo de caso, pretende-se apresentar os desafios enfrentados pelos participantes nessa modalidade de ensino perante ao isolamento social e ao uso das Novas Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (NTICs), as quais tornaram-se instrumentos indispensáveis na atualidade. Para gerar os dados, utilizou-se o instrumento “Questionário” por ele conceder ao participante a oportunidade de explorar sua subjetividade em suas respostas, cabendo a ele decidir o que e como respondê-lo. Por sua vez, para realizar-se a análise dos dados, recorreu-se às obras freirianas como apoio teórico. Acredita-se que os estudos de Paulo Freire dialogam como esse porque o autor defende uma pedagogia que abraça os oprimidos, estimula a autonomia e oferta esperança àqueles que, muitas vezes, são silenciados pela intolerância à diversidade e pela alienação. Espera-se que esse estudo seja um meio de reflexão sobre o ato de ensinar, considerando que o ensino exige vários fatores internos e externos, tais como: respeito aos saberes dos educandos, rejeição a qualquer forma de discriminação, disponibilidade para o diálogo e, acima de tudo, a convicção de que a mudança é possível.
