Rain is the climatic factor that has greater influence on the erosion in the tropical regions due to its characteristics, intensity, duration and frequency. Knowing the erosive potential of rainfall and its distribution throughout the year allows the planning of management practices that aim to reduce water erosion and soil losses. In this work, it is proposed to define for the locality under influence of the rainfall station (code: 83368) in the municipality of Aragarças-GO, the R factor of the USLE, the rainfall patterns and the months that have the greatest erosive potential. A rainfall series from the period from 2002 to 2007 and a rainfall series from 1990 to 2014 were used. The data were converted to the digital format and, at the end of this phase, systematized and submitted to Chuveros software for the determination of erosivity indices (EI30 and KE> 25) and advanced, intermediate and delayed precipitation patterns. In the studied period, the average annual rainfall of the study site was 1,571.6 mm, with 91% of the rainfall concentrated from October to March. The mean annual values of EI30 and KE> 25 were 7,384.2 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year-1e and 127.9 MJ ha-1ano-1, respectively. The advanced hydrological pattern was the highest frequency, followed by the intermediate and delayed patterns.

Losses of soil and nutrients affect a large part of agricultural areas in tropical regions, regardless of the level of technology adopted. This study evaluated the physical attributes and erosivity indices associated with rainfall patterns and return periods in the region of Formosa, State of Goiás, Brazil. Using series of pluviographic (2002-2008) and pluviometric (1975-1998) data from a station located at municipality of Formosa, the erosive potential (EI30 and KE>25), rainfall patterns (advanced, intermediate and delayed) and the erosivity associated with the rainfall return periods were determined. The average annual rainfall of the region was 1,391.6 mm with 87.4% of the rains concentrated in October to March. The average annual values of EI30 and KE>25 corresponded to 8,041.6 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year-1 and 125.7 MJ ha-1 year-1, respectively. The months of the year did not differ based on rainfall pattern. The advanced hydrological pattern had the highest frequency of occurrence, followed by the delayed and intermediate patterns. The highest EI30 and KE>25 indices for individual rainfall seasons occurred under the intermediate and the advanced patterns in February and under the intermediate pattern in October for the index KE>25. The average annual erosivity index (R factor of USLE) (8041.6 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year-1) is expected to occur at least once every 1.89 years, corresponding to a probability of occurrence of 52.84%. The average annual values of EI30 estimated for the return periods of 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 years were 8,230, 10,225, 10,889, 11,222, 11,421 and 11,488 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year-1, respectively.

Conducting a field study to investigate the effects of foliar and soil fertilization with copper on the nutritional and physiological parameters and grain yield of common bean. The experimental design was a randomized block, in a 2 x 5 factorial scheme. The first factor was the site of application of copper fertilization. The second factor was copper doses: 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 kg ha-1 (6 replicates). The following were evaluated: leaf nitrogen and copper contents, relative chlorophyll index (RCI), gas exchange, photochemical efficiency of photosystem II, and grain yield. The data were subjected to analysis of variance and F test (p-value < 0.05), using the Scott & Knott for qualitative data and polynomial regression for quantitative data. Leaf Cu content was higher with soil application (4% and 28%), both at 24 and 45 DAE, respectively. Net photosynthesis reached a maximum index of 18.77 µmol m-2 s-1 with foliar Cu fertilization at the dose of 4 kg ha-1. The application of 2.0 kg ha-1 Cu was the one that led to the highest grain yields; however, soil application stood out with a yield about 12% higher of the foliar. Soil fertilization proved to be more efficient in terms of Cu absorption and RCI rates, improving grain yield (12%) in relation to foliar, especially at the dose of 2 kg ha-1. The dose of 2 kg Cu ha-1 provided the best differential profit, reaching US$ 581.96 ha-1 and US$ 503.01 ha-1 for soil and foliar application, respectively.
