A produção científica relacionada às práticas turísticas dos consumidores com deficiência ainda é incipiente e, quando existente, privilegia os cadeirantes. Buscando diminuir essa lacuna, este estudo analisa o turismo sob a ótica do um agente peculiar: o turista com deficiência visual usuário de cão-guia. Foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória qualitativa de amostragem não-probabilística, com entrevistas em profundidade, para entender os fatores determinantes da escolha de um destino quando esse indivíduo viaja a lazer. A partir das narrativas dos respondentes, analisou-se a aceitação da deficiência, inibidores e facilitadores do consumo turístico, motivadores do consumo turístico e aspectos relacionados à informação e comunicação do destino. Os resultados apontam que os entrevistados se sentem seguros durante a viagem, porque têm a companhia do animal, elemento de suporte que dá independência e autonomia. A acessibilidade física não é um fator importante para a escolha do destino, sendo o cão-guia aquele que influencia o processo. Os critérios de seleção diferem na presença ou ausência do animal. A informação é crucial porque o planejamento da viagem é minucioso. A indicação de terceiros, principalmente aqueles que viajam com os animais, tem influência na construção da imagem do destino.
