As espécies exóticas invasoras (EEI) podem impactar o curso de sucessão natural de comunidades biológicas e, consequentemente, ocupar e dominar o espaço do componente natural. O presente estudo teve por objetivo analisar artigos científicos referentes à ocorrência e invasão de Ligustrum lucidum W.T.Aiton na Floresta Ombrófila Mista (FOM) e discutir os efeitos dessa EEI na biodiversidade. Foram revisados artigos do período de 2013 a 2022, embasando informações sobre a arborização urbana, florística e estrutura do componente arbóreo da FOM, além da descrição de L. lucidum como EEI e efeitos ecológicos na biodiversidade. Constata-se a abundância de L. lucidum em vários municípios do sul do Brasil, majoritariamente em áreas urbanas, na arborização em parques, rodovias e praças, se estendendo, muitas vezes de forma espontânea nos remanescentes aluviais da FOM e áreas rurais. Estudos locais mostram que essa é uma EEI dominante do estrato médio, com baixas taxas de mortalidade, altas taxas de ingresso e rápido crescimento. Quando em fragmentos invadidos essa espécie causa redução da riqueza, diversidade e equabilidade da flora natural, além de influenciar no desenvolvimento de lianas, organismos do solo, aranhas e no abastecimento de água subterrâneo. São necessárias pesquisas para o monitoramento e manejo em remanescentes de FOM invadidos, bem como, propor metodologias para atenuar o crescimento e desenvolvimento da espécie invasora.Palavras-chave: Alfeneiro; Espécies exóticas; Invasão biológica; Floresta com Araucária. INTRODUÇÃOLigustrum lucidum W.T.Aiton (Oleaceae), popularmente conhecida como ligustro ou alfeneiro, é uma espécie lenhosa natural do continente asiático, especialmente na China. Foi propagada fora de sua faixa nativa com propósitos ornamentais em espaços públicos na arborização urbana (Bilmayer et al., 2017). A espécie foi introduzida especialmente entre as décadas de 70-90 no Brasil e se tornou "atrativa" neste meio, por ser adaptável, possuir crescimento rápido e resistente a condições climáticas adversas, sendo estes os principais fatores que garantem o sucesso de sua invasão (Fernandez et al., 2020).A partir disso, o estabelecimento de espécies exóticas invasoras (EEI) em florestas naturais acarreta o desenvolvimento de populações autorregenerativas, que ocupam o espaço de espécies nativas (Dreyer, Higuchi e Silva, 2019; Letcher e Chazdon, 2009). Influenciando dessa forma, negativamente, na interação entre espécies, impedindo o crescimento e a regeneração da flora natural por competição. Isto ocasiona modificações, como na ciclagem de nutrientes, na produtividade vegetal, nas cadeias tróficas, na dispersão de sementes e na sucessão ecológica, ocasionando danos ambientais e prejuízos econômicos (Guidini et al., 2014). Até mesmo causar extinções locais, proporcionando alterações nos processos ecológicos (Miyamura et al., 2019) causando uma "auto-degradação" na floresta.
