O líquen plano oral (LPO) é um processo inflamatório crônico mediado por células T que acomete a mucosa bucal ou pele, com incidência maior em mulheres adulta, tendo uma prevalência global baixa em torno de 1,01%. Normalmente assintomáticos, tem aspecto clínico diverso, podendo se apresentar em forma de bolhas, placas, pápulas, atróficas, erosiva ou reticular. Em alguns casos pode se apresentar de forma sintomática, com sensação de queimação e desconforto. Para um diagnóstico assertivo do LPO, é necessário o exame de biopsia, sendo os aspectos histopatológicos caracterizados por hiperqueratose, cristas epiteliais ausentes ou hiperplásicas, degeneração hidrópica da camada basal, presença de corpos hialinos e infiltrado inflamatório crônico na camada epitelial basal e camadas adjacentes, sendo em alguns casos necessário diagnóstico diferencial de outras lesões brancas da cavidade bucal. O objetivo do presente estudo é relatar um caso clínico muco-cutâneo de líquen plano acometendo paciente do gênero masculino, leucoderma, sexo masculino, 58 anos, onde a condução do tratamento e a evolução da lesão foi decisiva para se firmar o diagnóstico diferencial de líquen plano da leucoplasia. Os autores concluem que o diagnóstico diferencial de lesões brancas da cavidade bucal nem sempre é fácil, exigindo do profissional um conhecimento profundo das patologias e o discernimento de fazer o diagnóstico diferencial de lesões com similaridades, de modo a diagnosticar e tratar as lesões de forma adequada.
O granuloma piogênico (GP) é uma lesão benigna, não neoplásica na cavidade oral, sendo considerado um Processo Proliferativo Não Neoplásico (PPNN). É uma das entidades mais frequentemente associadas à expansão dos tecidos moles da cavidade bucal, tendo preferência por indivíduos do gênero feminino, na faixa etária entre a 2ª. e a 4ª. década de vida. O tratamento de eleição é sua excisão cirúrgica com pequena margem de segurança, devendo os agentes irritantes serem concomitantemente removidos para a cura da lesão. Este trabalho teve como objetivo relatar um caso de granuloma piogênico lábio inferior associado a trauma casual num paciente do gênero masculino com 20 anos de idade. Os autores concluem enaltecendo a importância do conhecimento da patologia bucal pelo Cirurgião-Dentista no sentido de realizar um correto diagnóstico diferencial de outras lesões para realização do tratamento adequado.
A mucocele é uma lesão comum na cavidade oral. A lesão é benigna e se apresenta como um aumento de volume na região devido a uma obstrução do ducto das glândulas salivares envolvidas. A sua etiologia na maioria dos casos está associada a traumatismos no local e hábitos parafuncionais. O local mais frequente do seu desenvolvimento são lábio inferior, seguidas de ventre da língua e a mucosa jugal. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo realizar uma revisão atualizada sobre a mucocele oral, fazer uma breve comparação dos métodos de tratamento e relatar um caso clínico de mucocele em um paciente do gênero masculino, 20 anos de idade com queixa de bolha no lábio inferior. O tratamento de eleição foi a excisão cirúrgica convencional completa da lesão e da glândula salivar menor afetada. Os autores concluíram que a excisão cirúrgica convencional é um método seguro e eficaz, evitando recidivas da lesão.
