Objetivo: Verificar a adesão ao tratamento de hipertensão arterial sistêmica e os fatores associados. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo quali-quantitativo, conduzidos com 141 indivíduos hipertensos, de ambos os sexos, de idade entre 18 e 90 anos. Aplicou-se os questionários socioeconômico-demográfico e o questionário QATHAS (questionário de adesão ao tratamento de Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica). Os dados foram analisados por valores absolutos e relativos e por teste de correlação de Pearson. Resultados: A amostra foi constituída de 89 mulheres com média de 61,66 anos de idade; e 52 homens com idade média de 59 anos. A maioria desses hipertensos eram analfabetos ou possuíam ensino fundamental incompleto, renda mensal entre 1-3 salários mínimos, eram casados ou união consensual, 54,6% se declaram brancos, 33,33% dos hipertensos estavam na faixa etária de 51 a 60 anos, 87,9% usam regularmente os medicamentos, 53,2% não faziam exercícios em conjunto com tratamento para HAS. Conclusão: A faixa etária mais acometida de HAS foi de 51 a 60 anos, com maior prevalência no sexo feminino, atingindo mais a população de baixa renda, associada à uma baixa frequência de atividade física, porém com a maioria apresentando uso regular de medicação, caracterizando elevada adesão ao tratamento.
