This qualitative project in collaboration with Andrew Fleck Children Services (AFCS) identifies the role of parent/teacher partnerships as a support for family resilience, the characteristics that parents and teachers attribute to strong families and how parents and teachers define what family resilience means. The data stems from semi-structured interviews conducted with 11 parents and 10 early childhood educators for a total of 21 participants from AFCS licensed childcare centers and licensed home childcare centers. Interviews were analyzed using thematic data analysis and a software package called Nvivo. The study is exploratory; but, the data findings add to the literature a diverse and culturally relevant perspective on what family resilience means to Canadian childcare workers and parents as well as how the parent-educator partnership helps facilitate family resilience. Additionally, it provides AFCS with modified and relevant ways of providing support to the families they serve.
The Instructional Design is a framework to integrate multimedia features in the curriculum to create a facilitated, interactive, and student-centered teaching-learning environment as the latest trends in instructional strategies are moving towards incorporating instructional technologies into the classroom. The present study intended to conduct a needs analysis: to identify the needs and problems of the prospective teachers to measure the performance gap. This study is focused upon the need analysis phase based on the generic ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) approach to develop an instructional design specifically for the blended learning environment. This study was experimental, and the sample of the study was taken through purposive sampling technique that included twenty Prospective teachers of BS Education 7th semester. A self-developed detailed need analysis questionnaire was used to collect data for the need analysis phase. The needs-analysis plan was developed and implemented on the following parameters: leaners’ analysis, environmental analysis, content analysis, instructional analysis, and instructional media analysis. The results of the need analysis revealed that there was a need to adopt planned instructional procedures to overcome the performance gap of prospective teachers in terms of their needs, requirements, problems, and expectations in the teaching-learning process, based on which the instructional design would be designed, developed implemented and evaluated for blended learning environment according to ADDIE approach.
Career selection is about the career choice of an individual which should be according to the skills and aptitude of that individual in combination with his/her interests. This research was conducted to show the involvement of parents, societal values as well as the results of lack of career guidance and counseling programs. It was carried out through a survey of BS students of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The research is significant for parents as well as teachers to guide the students towards the right path while choosing their career. The data depicted that force from parents in career selection of their child is very dominant. Besides, lack of career guidance and counseling programs result in difficulties for students. Students choose career either by inspirations or based on their aspirations. There are too many fields but lack of guidance and counseling leads students to follow either what their elders want them to, or to follow their inspirations and aspirations. Career counseling programs are recommended for the students at an early stage which is very necessary and becoming the demand of the society as there are too many emerging fields.
