Z badań epidemiologicznych wynika, że 43% kobiet i 46% mężczyzn spełnia kryteria zaburzeń seksualnych. Etiologia zaburzeń seksualnych jest wieloczynnikowa. Uwzględnia czynniki biologiczne, psychiczne i społeczne. Celem pracy była ocena poziomu funkcjonowania seksualnego młodych kobiet i mężczyzn oraz ich ocena w odniesieniu do wybranych zmiennych (wieku, miejsca zamieszkania, roku studiów i sytuacji materialnej). Materiał i metoda. Badaniem, które przeprowadzono w okresie od października 2014 roku do czerwca 2015 roku, objęto studentów Podhalańskiej Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej w Nowym Targu oraz studentów Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach, w wieku między 18. a 25. rokiem życia, łącznie 1269 osób. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone metodą sondażu diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem techniki ankietowej. Narzędzia badawcze stanowiły: samodzielnie opracowany kwestionariusz badawczy, Indeks Funkcji Seksualnych Kobiet (FSFI) oraz Indeks Funkcji Seksualnych Mężczyzn (IIEF). Wyniki. Większość respondentów zainicjowała życie seksualne. Dysfunkcje seksualne stwierdzono u 19,69% kobiet i 34% mężczyzn. Wykazano, że kobiety deklarujące bardzo dobrą sytuację materialną uzyskały najwyższą średnią punktację skali FSFI (30,61 ± 3,29). Zależności takiej nie wykazano w grupie mężczyzn. Stwierdzono natomiast istotną statystycznie zależność między liczbą punktów uzyskaną w skali IIFE a wiekiem badanych mężczyzn (p=0,04). Wnioski. Dysfunkcje seksualne częściej dotyczą mężczyzn niż kobiet. Funkcjonowanie seksualne mężczyzn dodatnio koreluje z wiekiem. U kobiet funkcjonowanie seksualne pozytywnie koreluje z rokiem studiów oraz ich sytuacją materialną. Z badań epidemiologicznych wynika, że 43% kobiet i 46% mężczyzn spełnia kryteria zaburzeń seksualnych [1].Dysfunkcje seksualne są zaburzeniami związanymi z fizjologią reakcji seksualnych [2]. Zgodnie z klasyfikacją DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), stworzoną przez Grupę Roboczą ds. Zaburzeń Seksualnych i Zaburzeń Identyfikacji, do dysfunkcji seksualnych u kobiet zalicza się: zaburzenia orgazmu, zaburzenia zainteresowania seksualnego/zaburzenia podniecenia, a także ból genitalno--miedniczny/zaburzenia penetracji, a u mężczyzn: wytrysk opóźniony, zaburzenia wzwodu, zaburzenia zmniejszonego pożądania seksualnego i wytrysk przedwczesny (wczesny). Klasyfikacja uwzględnia ponadto zaburzenia seksualne wywołane lekami lub substancjami (alkohol, leki przeciwdepresyjne, przeciwpsychotyczne, przeciwdrgawkowe, lit) oraz niespecyficzne dysfunkcje seksualne [2,3,4]. Istotny wpływ na kształto-wanie postaw wobec seksualności ma prowadzenie edukacji seksualnej. Edukacja ta powinna trwać przez całe życie i być powszechnie dostępna. Nadrzędnym celem pracy była ocena wiedzy studentów wybranych uczelni w zakresie seksualności, a także analiza źródeł pozyskiwania tej wiedzy i poznanie oczekiwań w tym zakresie. Materiał i metody. Badaniem objęto populację studentów kierunków medycznych (pielęgniarstwo, położnictwo, fizjoterapia, ratownictwo medyczne, kosmetologia) Podhalańskiej Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej w Nowym Targu oraz Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach, w wieku 18-25 lat. Do badania zakwalifikowano łącznie 1011 studentów. Narzędzie badawcze stanowił samodzielnie opracowany kwestionariusz badawczy. Wyniki. Głównym źródłem informacji w zakresie seksualności dla badanych były środki masowego przekazu. Przekazane informacje z zakresu edukacji seksualnej były wystarczające dla ankietowanych zarówno z Podhalańskiej Państwowej Wyż-szej Szkoły Zawodowej w Nowym Targu, jak i ze Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach. Zdaniem badanych za edukację seksualną powinni odpowiadać przede wszystkim rodzice. Wnioski. Pierwsze informacje z zakresu seksualności najczęściej przekazywali studentom rodzice, jednak podstawowe źródło wiedzy w tym zakresie stanowiły dla nich środki masowego przekazu. Studenci obu uczelni wskazywali na braki w obrębie wiedzy obejmującej różne aspekty seksualności. Młodzi dorośli z Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach wcześniej niż studenci z Podhalańskiej Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej otrzymują edukację seksualną. Studenci z obu uczelni oczekują większego zaangażowania rodziców w edukację seksualną. Edukacja seksualna zapewnia osobie możliwość poznawania i badania własnych wartości i postaw, umożliwia zdobycie umiejętności podejmowania decyzji, komunikowania się i zmniejszenia ryzyka w odniesieniu do wielu aspektów seksualności" [2].Edukacja seksualna jest realizowana w ciągu całego życia człowieka.
