Viajantes britânicos em Goa (1800Goa ( -1940, livro editado no final de 2015 pela editora lisboeta Tinta da China, de autoria de Filipa Lowndes Vicente, reúne numa só obra vários dos interesses de pesquisa da investigadora. Por um lado, trata as complexas relações entre a Índia Britânica e a Índia Portuguesa, sobre as quais se tem vindo a debruçar em outros trabalhos como Outros orientalismos, obra publicada em três línguas (VICENTE, 2009;2012a, 2012b sobre Gerson da Cunha, um médico goês que vivia em Bombaim, e as suas relações com Florença; por outro, toca nos estudos de género e aqui concretamente na escrita feminina no império português do século XIX; por último, junta a estes temas a fotografia, que tem vindo a estudar num projecto de investigação recente e em cujo âmbito publicou O império da visão (2014). Profusamente ilustrado com belíssimas fotografias de Goa, algumas penso que inéditas, esta obra pretende não só dirigir-se a um público académico já familiarizado com alguns dos casos e pontos ali tratados, mas a um público mais alargado. O equilíbrio entre o que se pode considerar dois interesses distintos e estilos distintos de escrever é um objetivo amplamente conseguido por Filipa Vicente.
