This chapter focuses on the relationship between structural and magnetic properties of cubic spinel ferrite MFe 2 O 4 (M = Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) nanoparticles (NPs). First, a brief overview of the preparation methods yielding well-developed NPs is given. Then, key parameters of magnetic NPs representing their structural and magnetic properties are summarized with link to the relevant methods of characterization. Peculiar features of magnetism in real systems of the NPs at atomic, single-particle, and mesoscopic level, respectively, are also discussed. Finally, the significant part of the chapter is devoted to the discussion of the structural and magnetic properties of the NPs in the context of the relevant preparation routes. Future outlooks in the field profiting from tailoring of the NP properties by doping or design of core-shell spinel-only particles are given.
Black farmers in the United States lost nearly 90 percent of their farmland during the 20th century. Researchers and advocates have identified the legal tangle known as heirs’ property as a potential leading cause of this historical and ongoing loss of wealth. Heirs’ property is land passed down through generations to multiple heirs without a clear legal title, and Black landowners have been disproportionately affected due to systemic racism in the United States. As a result, landowners underutilize otherwise productive farmland, have difficulty accessing federal loans and grants, and lose land to predatory buyers through sales forced on heirs who might have farmed it. The federal government has an obligation to help these landowners resolve title issues and improve their access to federal funding, which would support a new generation of Black farmers in rebuilding wealth for their families and communities.
4 Klinika dětské hematologie a onkologie 2. LF UK a FN Motol, Praha Článek představuje úlohu herního specialisty v rámci komplexního přístupu v léčbě dětí a dospívajících pacientů s nádorovým onemocněním. Text vychází z osobních zkušeností první autorky článku získaných během odborné stáže v nemocnici The Royal Marsden Hospital v Londýně v říjnu 2021. Klíčová slova: herní specialista, hra, dětský a dospívající pacient, zvládání léčby nádorového onemocnění. The role of the child life specialist in a complex treatment of children and adolescents with oncological diagnosis Experiences of the psychologist of the supportive team from abroadThe article introduces the role of Child Life Specialist during a process of a complex therapy of children and adolescents with oncological diagnosis. The text is based on personal experience gained by the first author during her fellowship in the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, in October 2021. The Child Life Specialist is educated and trained to help children, young patients and their families to cope with the stress from chronic and painful treatment, feelings of fear, loss of control, isolation, disability and others potentially traumatic events. Child Life Specialist uses a play as an important tool to communicate with small children and to explain different procedures. Child Life Specialist takes care of every patient in co-operation with physicians, nurses and other professionals of the interdisciplinary team. The text also includes a summary of the development of the position of the Child Life Specialist in Czech hospitals.
