El presente capítulo explicará el valor de la experiencia estética como puente entre la intimidad y el conocimiento para la elevación espiritual del hombre en medio de las tendencias mundiales de las sociedades del exceso. El aporte de Alexander Baumgarten en cuanto a la participación del hombre como “sujeto lógico-racional” y como “sujeto racional-sensible”, en el entendimiento del poder formador de la experiencia estética. Así mismo se tendrá en cuenta las miradas de otros autores, tales como Platón, Aristóteles e Immanuel Kant en la concepción de la belleza, para explicar la relación de esta con la naturaleza humana. O las reflexivas miradas de José Ortega y Gasset y Alfonso López Quintás que redundarán en la belleza, intimidad y verdad, como parte de un interesante proceso de conocimiento del hombre en la edificación de su propia estructura interna y su proyección en el colectivo humano. En definitiva, la contemplación y la valoración de la virtud del ser humano para desarrollar la capacidad de construirse a sí mismo a través del conocimiento de sus sentidos, de la elevación de su percepción en la búsqueda de la belleza y de la verdad, lo cual significa reconocerse como ser perfectible y espiritual.
Este escrito examina el particular enfoque dado por Arthur Schopenhauer a la cuestión de la libertad y su relación problemática con la voluntad humana, la causalidad y el conocimiento. Dicha interacción se enjuicia al no presentar la claridad y suficiencia teórica pretendida por el alemán para tal conjunto teórico. Para esto, se estudia el escrito Sobre la libertad de la voluntad premiado por la Real Sociedad Noruega de las Ciencias en 1839, recogido en el primer capítulo del texto Los dos problemas fundamentales de la ética en la edición española.
Este trabajo pretende establecer una relación entre las propuestas filosóficas de los pensadores Arthur Schopenhauer y Emil Cioran, específicamente, en sus ideas sobre la absurdidad y el sufrimiento de la existencia. Así pues, los autores compartirán una visión trágica del mundo, inicialmente por considerarlo carente de sentido o fundamento, es decir, como algo completamente vacío. Tal vacuidad de la existencia resultará de un proceso de desilusión y desenmascaramiento que nace de la intuición del absurdo, que en Schopenhauer toma la forma del concepto de voluntad, mientras que en Cioran se presentará bajo los conceptos y experiencias de la vacuidad e inanidad. Luego de establecer tales nociones como fórmula para entender la existencia como carente de esencia o cualquier tipo de sustancia o fundamento, podrá determinarse el aspecto que causa mayor mortificación al ser humano: el sufrimiento, pues el desarrollo irracional de la realidad y los inacabables males del mundo plantean la connaturalidad entre absurdidad y padecimiento, reflexión que postula el problema devastador del absurdo de la vida como fuente de un dolor injustificado. Finalmente, nuestros autores postularán frente a tanta desesperanza una serie de estrategias contra el absurdo y el sufrimiento como el suicidio, la santidad o ascetismo y la contemplación estética como formas de aquietar los padecimientos y hacer soportable el drama de la existencia.
