Este libro está diseñado para estudiantes de pregrado que están iniciando su formación profesional en universidades públicas y privadas, el contenido del libro equivale al curso de matemática básica, que corresponde a estudios generales que se dicta en las distintas escuelas profesionales, una característica importante de este libro denominado “Matemática elemental para estudiantes universitarios” es la colección de ejercicios resueltos y propuestos, que coadyuvaran directamente en el desarrollo de sus capacidades y habilidades en resolución de ejercicios y problemas. Este libro trata de complementar los conocimientos previos adquiridos en el nivel secundario, y a su vez profundizar los temas, con un enfoque compacto y conciso comenzando con el nivel básico y desarrollando gradualmente hasta el nivel avanzado de las matemáticas que son fundamentales en campos relacionados a la ingeniería, biomédicas y sociales. Nuestro objetivo principal es cubrir todos los temas necesarios de las matemáticas para que en lo posterior el estudiante esté en condiciones de afrontar cursos como cálculo diferencial e integral, cálculo vectorial, ecuaciones diferenciales y otros. Durante los últimos cinco años los autores impartieron regularmente el curso de matemática básica y cursos avanzados en distintas escuelas profesionales de la Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, las notas escritas que se presentan empezaron a materializarse en los semestres 2021 - II y 2022 – I, considerando los valiosos opiniones y comentarios de los estudiantes y colegas que han influido enormemente para preparar y organizar el contenido del libro. Quedamos muy agradecidos a nuestros estudiantes y colegas por su valioso aporte, y esperamos en adelante recibir cualquier comentario o sugerencia para ediciones posteriores.
Durante el brote del virus Covid-19, varios investigadores han estudiado diversos modelos matemáticos de pronóstico de infecciones y muertes; así como, la tasa de contagio del virus. En la actualidad sigue vigente el virus con algunas variantes y conocer su comportamiento es de mucha importancia para desarrollar acciones efectivas en el control de la situación actual y futura de la epidemia. El objetivo fue predecir la cantidad de infectados acumulados por Covid-19, de 38 días, a partir de 23 de diciembre del 2021, utilizando los datos registrados en la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), del caso Perú, y realizando entrenamientos del modelo de media móvil integrada autorregresiva (ARIMA) en el software Python 3. Los modelos más óptimos obtenidos con datos reales de número de casos infectados y muertes diarias por Covid-19, según los parámetros estadísticos EMPA y R2 fueron ARIMA(3,0,1) en la predicción de casos diarios con EMPA=0,178 y R2=0,804 y ARIMA(3,1,1), con EMPA= 0,243 y R2=0,579, en la predicción de muertes diarias. En los cinco modelos aplicados en el periodo de predicción, se estimó un promedio de 53518 personas infectadas por Covid-19.
