O propósito deste artigo é analisar o esporte como elemento de diplomacia pública nas relações internacionais, com ênfase no protagonismo global dos cidadãos. A produção científica sobre os reflexos diplomáticos da participação cidadã no contexto de eventos esportivos é bastante limitada. Por isso, faz-se necessário investigar como a espontaneidade e o engajamento direto de cidadãos com eventos esportivos possibilita-lhes o exercício da diplomacia pública. Para essa investigação, utiliza-se o método qualitativo, baseado na revisão bibliográfica e no estudo de caso da Maratona de Nova Iorque. Parte-se do pressuposto de que os cidadãos podem exercer diretamente a diplomacia pública à luz do caso em questão. O evento é uma das corridas de rua mais populares dos Estados Unidos e do mundo, com ampla participação de atletas nacionais e estrangeiros e com grande envolvimento de cidadãos novaiorquinos, tanto na organização quanto na interação com os participantes. Ao final, conclui-se que eventos esportivos possibilitam o exercício da diplomacia pública pelos cidadãos.
Resumo: o propósito do artigo é promover uma reflexão sobre a relação entre identidade e consumo na atualidade. Parte-se do pressuposto de que diferentes instituições sociais participam, por meio da socialização, da construção subjetiva de elementos classificatórios que guiam o comportamento de crianças e adolescentes diante do consumo. Para tanto, investigaremos em que medida os grupos primários, constituídos pela família, religião e comunidade, por um lado, e por outro os grupos secundários, identificados como a mídia, o mercado e a escola, exercem influência na construção de subjetividade e identidade na infância e na adolescência, por meio de uma análise do consumo. A pesquisa foi realizada em 2018-2019 em Senador Canedo-Goiás, com famílias atendidas pela ONG De Mãos Dadas pela Vida.
