• Dual-phase DE-CT is beneficial for mediastinal lymph node assessment in NSCLC. • Arterial to venous iodine uptake ratio was higher in enlarged lymph nodes. • Change of arterial enhancement fraction correlated to therapy response.
Weather is one of the things that interest almost everyone. Weather maps are therefore widely used and many users use them in everyday life. To identify the potential usability problems of weather web maps, the presented research was conducted. Five weather maps were selected for an eye-tracking experiment based on the results of an online questionnaire: DarkSky, In-Počasí, Windy, YR.no, and Wundermap. The experiment was conducted with 34 respondents and consisted of introductory, dynamic, and static sections. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of recorded data was performed together with a think-aloud protocol. The main part of the paper describes the results of the eye-tracking experiment and the implemented research, which identify the strengths and weaknesses of the evaluated weather web maps and point out the differences between strategies in using maps by the respondents. The results include findings such as the following: users worked with web maps in the simplest form and they did not look for hidden functions in the menu or attempt to find any advanced functionality; if expandable control panels were available, the respondents only looked at them after they had examined other elements; map interactivity was not an obstacle unless it contained too much information or options to choose from; searching was quicker in static menus that respondents did not have to switch on or off; the graphic design significantly influenced respondents and their work with the web maps. The results of the work may be useful for further scientific research on weather web maps and related user issues.

The map created represents the result of an application of Quitt's Climate Classification to a dataset of climatic characteristics of the Czech Republic from 1961 to 2000. The Quitt's climatic classification is based on dividing a territory into climate regions (units) according to complex climatological characteristics. These units represent specified classes defined by the combination of values of 14 climatological characteristics. All units are included in three basic climatic regions: warm, moderately warm and cold. The classification is popular as it allows the definition on a single map of site boundaries where there are changes in climatic characteristics. There are 17 climatic units (from a 23 possible units) recognized for the given time period in the Czech Republic. The study includes an assessment of compliance of the resulting map with the actual values of selected meteorological characteristics. The map provides a comprehensive overview of climatic characteristics for the Czech Republic.
The accompanying Main Map shows forest vulnerability zones calculated for the Czech Republic, covering a total area of almost 79,000 km 2 . Calculating forest vulnerability zones over such a large area requires a unique approach due to its complexity. The map includes additional information on forest areas and topography. The model of forest vulnerability zones (FVZ) constitutes an alternative to existing zones of forest health hazard caused by emissions. It was created based on subjective classification of existing incidence of damage in forests. Moreover, the model of forest vulnerability zones estimates the risk of forest health degradation caused by abiotic factors.
The authors present the research seeking evaluating and developing aspects of interpretation and perception of geospace by modern tactile maps based on 3D printing. There are three newly introduced types of tactile maps. Map of type A is a tactile map printed by 3D printing technology as traditional relief tactile map with 5 mm thick background using both positive and negative relief with labelling by Braille letters. Map of type B is an inverse form of tactile map printed by 3D printing technology which will be used for casting type A tactile maps. Finally map of type C is a sound tactile map derived from map of type A posed onto box with digital voice records of geoinformation (attributes, navigations etc.) activated by touch on maps surface. The paper also describes present situation in tactile maps production and steps in recent testing the new type maps.
This paper and accompanying maps focus on a land suitability assessment of the Olomouc region in the Czech Republic. All results were calculated in Urban Planner, a model designed by the authors of this paper. The method of calculation is based on a multi-criteria analysis (weighted overlay method), respects the principles of sustainable development, and allows for execution of several scenarios. The main result of this work is a set of maps. The first map sheet shows the land suitability for housing, recreation, public services, heavy industry, light industry, and transportation. The second map sheet consists of four maps showing different scenarios of land suitability for housing: one map showing the evaluation of existing proposals for housing from urban plans, and one map showing optimal areas for housing calculated by the Urban Planner model. The maps can be used as a significant source of information about the suitability of development in the Olomouc region in geographic or urban studies, both for experts and the general public. All thematic maps are on the scale of 1:125,000; supplementary maps are smaller.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
