BackgroundHow the accuracy of complete‐arch implant scans is affected when different intraoral scanners (IOSs) are used and the effect of scan body position on the accuracy are not well‐known.PurposeTo compare the scan accuracy (trueness and precision) of a recently introduced IOS (Virtuo Vivo) to a commonly used IOS (TRIOS 3) and the scans of a laboratory scanner (LBS; Cares 7 SERIES) in a completely edentulous maxilla with four implants. It was also aimed to evaluate the effect of scan body position on the accuracy.Materials and MethodsMulti‐unit scan bodies were tightened on a poly(methyl methacrylate) edentulous maxillary model with four implants. A master reference model (MRM) stereolithography (STL) file was generated by scanning the model with a high‐precision scanner. The model was scanned with three different scanners (n = 10); two different IOSs and a LBS. STL files were superimposed over the MRM.ResultsFor trueness, scan body position (P = .004) and scanner type (P < .001) had a significant effect on distance deviation and a significant interaction was found (P = .001). For angular deviation, only scanner type had a significant effect (P = .028). For precision, significant difference was found for distance (P = .011) and angular deviations (P = .020) between different scanner types.ConclusionsOne scanner type was not superior to others when both trueness and precision were considered. Position of the scan body affected the distance deviation (trueness).
BackgroundLimited information exists on the role of B‐cell‐dependent mechanisms in the progression of heart failure (HF). However, in failing human myocardium, there is evidence of deposition of activated complement components as well as anticardiac antibodies. We aimed to determine the contribution of B‐cells in HF progression using a nonsurgical mouse model of nonischemic cardiomyopathy (CMP).Methods and Results
CMP protocol involved the use of l‐NAME and NaCl in the drinking water and angiotensin‐II infusion for 35 days. At day 35, mice were analyzed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, gene expression, and histology. Mice (12 weeks old) were divided into 4 groups, all in C57BL/6 background: wild‐type (WT) CMP; severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) CMP (T‐ and B‐cell deficient); CD22−
CMP (B‐cell depleted); and Nude CMP (T‐cell deficient), with their respective controls. We performed B‐cell depletion and reconstitution protocols. The protective effect of B‐cell depletion was demonstrated by a significant reduction of cell hypertrophy and collagen deposition and a preserved ejection fraction in the CD22−
CMP group compared to WT CMP. Once SCID mice underwent B‐cell reconstitution with isolated CMP B‐cells, the CMP phenotype was restored. Furthermore, deposition of IgG3 and apoptosis in the myocardium follows the development of CMP; in addition, in vitro studies demonstrated that activated B‐cells stimulate collagen production by cardiac fibroblasts.ConclusionsThe absence of B‐cells in this model of HF resulted in less hypertrophy and collagen deposition, preservation of left ventricular function, and, in association with these changes, a reduction in expression of proinflammatory cytokines, immunoglobulin G deposition, and apoptosis in the myocardium. Taken together, these data suggest that B‐cells play a contributory role in an angiotensin‐II‐induced HF model.
Abstract. Opinion mining deals with determining of the sentiment orientation-positive, negative, or neutral-of a (short) text. Recently, it has attracted great interest both in academia and in industry due to its useful potential applications. One of the most promising applications is analysis of opinions in social networks. In this paper, we examine how classifiers work while doing opinion mining over Spanish Twitter data. We explore how different settings (n-gram size, corpus size, number of sentiment classes, balanced vs. unbalanced corpus, various domains) affect precision of the machine learning algorithms. We experimented with Naïve Bayes, Decision Tree, and Support Vector Machines. We describe also language specific preprocessing-in our case, for Spanish language-of tweets. The paper presents best settings of parameters for practical applications of opinion mining in Spanish Twitter. We also present a novel resource for analysis of emotions in texts: a dictionary marked with probabilities to express one of the six basic emotionsProbability Factor of Affective use (PFA)Spanish Emotion Lexicon that contains 2,036 words.
Evidence of anti-cardiac antibodies and complement activation was found in a large number of patients with end-stage cardiomyopathy regardless of the aetiology. Adenosine triphosphate synthase appears to be a new prominent antigenic stimulus; but more interestingly, the simultaneous co-existence of activated complement components suggests that this humoral mechanism may participate in disease progression.
