A combination of the iterative Schwinger variational method with the distortedwave approximation is applied to study excitations of a core-level electron in a triatomic molecule by electron impact. More specifically, we report calculated differential and integral cross sections for the X 1 + → 1,3 (2σ → 3π ) and X 1 + → 1,3 (3σ → 3π) transitions in N 2 O in the 415-900 eV incident energy range. The RI(1:3) ratios, obtained via dividing the distortedwave integral cross sections for transitions leading to the singlet core-excited states by those leading to triplet states, are also reported. The generalized oscillator-strength profiles for the singlet transitions have also been calculated at the incident energy of 3400 eV. The comparison of these quantities with the available theoretical and experimental data reported in the literature is encouraging.
Objective. To describe the beliefs, experiences, and practices of caring for pregnant women with diagnosis of fetal malformation. Methodology. Focused ethnography with the participation of eight women older than 18 years of age with diagnosis of fetal malformation and whose parturition occurred in a tier III hospital. The sample size was defined per data saturation. The information was obtained through in-depth interviews and analysis with the Spradley methodology. Results. The women endured the experience as a painful process, from which they manifested fear, uncertainty, and culpability regarding the diagnosis. This situation led them to using coping strategies like faith in God, adhering to recommendations from healthcare personnel, and carrying out cultural practices. Because the diagnosis was made during the advanced stage of the pregnancy, the participants had to continue with the gestation and adapt the self-care practices during this period. Conclusion. Self-care practices and relationships were evidenced among the women and the social support networks and the healthcare system, which favored confronting this situation by the pregnant women and their families, which permitted their carrying the gestation until the end.
Abstract. Distorted-wave approximation is applied to study electron-impact excitation of core electrons in CO2, CO and OCS. Differential and integral cross sections for the transitions:Π(1σ → 2π) in CO are calculated and reported in the (550-1000)-eV incident energy range.Comparison is made among the calculated data for the three targets. The physical origins of the similarity and difference of these data are also discussed. In addition, the generalized oscillator strengths for singlet 1σg → 2πu and 1σu → 2πu transitions for CO2 are calculated at 1300 eV. The comparison of these results with the available data in the literature is encouraging.
In recent years, the construction of efficient and sustainable housing has experienced a significant development, and it is thought that in the near future these criteria will be required in most new constructions. In this context, the architectural project includes the bioclimatic strategies to promote the energy saving and comfort. Spatial organization, zoning, and variability of form factor will be considered. By means of balancing plant-volume model, it can be adapted to a particular climate and remake the popular architectural tradition with nowadays technology (e.g., the Andalusian patio). The materials used should have fast regeneration, low environmental impact, and high durability. Ceramic or wood promote passive conditioning. Besides, they can be combined with new components such as phase change material that increases the thermal inertia. Its use to current constructive systems can be adapted in a flexible way to different places or uses. This research is based on the housing prototype "Patio 2.12" presented to the international competition Solar Decathlon Europe 2012, awarded with the second prize in the general ranking, the first prize in energy efficiency and energy balance, and the second prize in sustainability and innovation. Different architectural models are experienced that integrate the use of solar photovoltaics (PV) and "passive systems": The technological patio like a "buffer space" is an intermediate damper space of outdoor climate conditions that allows the control of solar incidence and the generation of drafts. It is constructed in two layers: the first one is glazed and also mobile, in order to open it or close it, and the second one consists of adjustable blades that provide shade. In winter, it causes a greenhouse effect, and during summer, it favors ventilation. Passive cooling by evapotranspiration or "jug effect" can cause the envelope to become an "active material"; in this case, the ceramic skin is breathable and incorporates an irrigation system that humidifies the ceramic pieces. When the water gets evaporated, the system absorbs the energy, cooling the cavity wall; the cool air is then recirculated into rooms through automated gates. Passive ventilation by solar chimney works by heating a volcanic rock on the roof, which generates a convection current that ventilates the module. It is not only to acclimatize the inside of the room but also to regulate the air quality. This chapter presents a study of an "open industrialized system"
