La periodontitis es una enfermedad infecciosa crónica que afecta al periodonto, esto se debe a la falta de higiene oral por parte del paciente, ya que determina una acumulación de biofilm dental, y con el tiempo la movilidad dentaria y pérdida de la pieza dental. El objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica es determinar el mejor manejo estomatológico, enfocado a la odontología preventiva en pacientes pediátricos y adolescentes. La metodología empleada para el desarrollo de este tema se basó en la revisión bibliográfica de artículos relacionados con el tema a tratar enfocándonos en artículos no más de 10 años de antigüedad, utilizando palabras claves específicas con el fin de encontrar bibliografía actualizada tanto en inglés como en español. Es muy prevalente encontrar gingivitis o enfermedad periodontal en pacientes con enfermedades sistémicas, esto se da por la administración de fármacos o también por la deficiente higiene oral, lo cual genera un inadecuado barrido del biofilm dental, por lo tanto, es uno de los principales factores etiológicos para el desarrollo de la patología bucal. Es importante que los padres de familia ayuden a sus hijos en el cepillado dental, ya que ellos a una edad corta no se pueden cepillar correctamente sus piezas dentales por su poca motricidad, y con el tiempo puede existir un acúmulo de biofilm dental y desarrollar gingivitis, por ello es muy importante que los padres ayuden a fomentar un buen cepillado dental.
La miostatina (MSTN) también conocida como la GDF8, es un regulador negativo del crecimiento del musculo esquelético y responsable del correcto desarrollo de la masa muscular. Su expresión está determinada por muchos mecanismos específicos, por ejemplo, dominio de proteínas específicas y genes relacionados. A su vez también, se obtuvo información acerca de su influencia en determinadas enfermedades que aquejan a nivel de los tejidos musculares como por ejemplo sarcopenia y también relacionándose con el gen FTO (gen de la obesidad). La revisión de la literatura d acerca de la expresión de esta proteína deja en claro que el buen manejo de esta mediante el uso de la Ingeniería Genética, podría ayudar aliviar estos males que debilitan de forma progresiva el sistema esquelético, debilitando el movimiento de las personas. Its expression is determined by many specific mechanisms, for example domain of specific proteins and related genes. Information about its influence on certain diseases that affect muscle tissues such as sarcopenia and also relating to the FTO gene (obesity gene) was also obtained. The review of the literature on the expression of this protein makes clear that the good management of this by the use of Genetic Engineering could help to alleviate these evils that progressively weaken the skeletal system, weakening the movement of people. Teniendo un receptor especifico en la membrana celular o en el núcleo. Algunos factores de crecimiento estimulan la proliferación de las células y otros la inhiben. Un grupo importante de factores de crecimiento son los factores transformadores de crecimiento b (TGFb), en función de su estructura pueden distinguirse varios subtipos de TGFb, como el "factor de diferenciación y crecimiento" (GDF). Mc Pherron A. (1997).Mc Pherron et al (1997), detectaron la expresión de la proteína en estadios tardíos del desarrollo de embriones de ratón y en algunos músculos esqueléticos desarrollados. Para determinar el papel biológico de la miostatina en el músculo esquelético anularon el gen que codifica la proteína de la miostatina en ratones, conduciendo a una pérdida en su función.Desde este descubrimiento tanto McPherron A., como otros científicos, investigaron la presencia de la miostatina y las posibles mutaciones del gen en otras especies animales.
