This study employed methodological tools of ethnobotany to better understand agrobiodiversity conservation practices used for yams (Dioscorea spp.) cultivated by farming communities in the municipality of Caapiranga (Amazonas State. For this work, a four-celled method, botanical inventory and collecting, a form, interviews and participant observation with farmers about the peculiarities of each species and varieties were used. The collected material was identified by an expert at the Herbarium of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas (EAFM) and the Institute of Botany, IBt, São Paulo, and deposited in the Herbarium of Federal University of Amazonas (HUAM). For further identification of all collected species and varieties, the collected material was grown in a UFAM experimental field. Among the fifteen local varieties surveyed, ten are believed to belong to D. trifida and one to D. bulbifera. It was not possible to identify the four other taxa because the...
The adoption of collaborative learning techniques for software engineering education provides the opportunity for discussing software modeling issues considering multiple points of view. As a consequence, students are expected to develop better models for software problems. To do so, it is necessary to develop or adapt tools that support teachers and students when adopting this approach. This paper describes a study on the use of the Collaborative Learning Peer Review technique in a System Modeling courses. As a result, we have a set of requirements for a tool to support this technique for teaching modeling software with UML (Unified Modeling Language).
Chicken manure is accessible to family farmers, is produced in large volumes, and has a low cost. Therefore, it can be an alternative to increase the productivity of sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas), which is a culture of socioeconomic importance. The objective of the study was to evaluate the productivity of sweet potatoes under different doses of chicken manure, with and without liming, comparing to the use of chemical fertilizer NPK, in very clayey soil, from the perspective of economic efficiency. The experiment was conducted in the field from September 2019 to March 2020 in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with four replications, in a split-plot scheme 2 × 5 + 1 (presence or absence of liming; five doses of chicken manure; and NPK, respectively. The evaluated parameters were: total and commercial productivity; number of total and commercial tuberous roots; harvest index; individual fresh mass, length, and diameter of tuberous roots. The effect of chicken manure was not influenced by the liming and there are no differences in agronomic values related to NPK. The dose of chicken manure that results in maximum production of the queen sweet potato variety is approximately 13 t ha-1, producing 25.2 t ha-1, while the resulting dose in maximum profit is approximately 12 t ha-1 with a production of the 25.1 t ha-1. The selling production directly to the final consumer increased profit by approximately 57.3%. Purchasing the input directly from the manufacturer reduced costs by approximately 74.5%. The use of chicken manure has a greater economic advantage compared to NPK in very clayey soil.
The use of ontology presents a novel data integration resource, when centred in semantic definitions and the need for interoperability. Results from previews works indicate that ontologies can drive knowledge acquisition processes for the purpose of comprehensive, transportable machine understanding and knowledge management. Applied to the biodiversity domain, ontologies can be a valuable resource for strategic planning and its contribution toward conservation of the Amazon region.
