A presente pesquisa versa sobre um relato de experiência de residência social na Vara de Execuções Penais de Juazeiro do Norte-CE com foco na atuação do Conselho da Comunidade Carcerária do município, órgão recém-instalado por esta Secretaria de Vara, com a finalidade de prestar assistência aos encarcerados, aos egressos e aos familiares do sistema prisional. Tendo em vista as violações que atentam à dignidade dos presos como a superlotação, as condições insalubres no cárcere e a carência assistencial, urge a necessidade de se conhecer ações realizadas em prol dos internos no município, com a instalação do Conselho da Comunidade. Portanto, objetiva-se conhecer as ações realizadas pelo referido órgão no intuito de explorar o que se realiza na defesa dos direitos humanos da população carcerária em análise. A pesquisa é de cunho exploratório, sendo, predominantemente de caráter qualitativo e se utiliza de dados do Relatório da Secretaria de Segurança Pública (2020), de legislações como a Constituição Federal, o Código Penal e a Lei de Execuções Penais (LEP), além de materiais bibliográficos conceituados de autores como Goffman (1975) e Capez (2012). Ao longo da pesquisa, destacam-se as ações propostas pelo Conselho, bem como o estudo das legislações que regem o tema, o acompanhamento da demanda das execuções penais e uma reflexão sobre a importância da integração de outros órgãos junto ao Conselho da Comunidade.
