Analisou-se a percepção de cirurgiões-dentistas vinculados a serviços públicos de saúde a respeito do uso da Odontologia de Mínima Intervenção (OMI) durante a pandemia de covid-19. Com desenho transversal e abordagem qualitativa, foram entrevistados nove cirurgiões-dentistas de Londrina, Paraná. O roteiro da entrevista constituiu-se do perfil do entrevistado e de questões norteadoras acerca da OMI. A análise dos dados se deu pela Técnica de Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. As respostas foram agrupadas em três categorias: a) conceito de OMI; b) potencialidades e fragilidades da OMI nos serviços públicos de saúde bucal; e c) OMI no contexto da pandemia de covid-19. Constatou-se que o conceito de OMI ainda não está claro, mas a tecnologia relacionada aos materiais utilizados na técnica foi apontada como potencialidade. O Tratamento Restaurador Atraumático e a educação em saúde foram apontados como estratégias de OMI empregadas durante e após a pandemia. A insegurança quanto à eficácia do método foi um aspecto negativo reportado. Concluiu-se que a percepção dos cirurgiões-dentistas sobre a prática da OMI durante a pandemia ainda perpassa por suspeitas quanto à efetividade e também pelo desconhecimento técnico.
