This article provides the design of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System designed for Effi-Cycle 2012 competition conducted by the Society of Automotive Engineers, North India Section in Chandigarh, India. This hybrid tricycle has the capability to be driven by 2 humans simultaneously and also by a 400W BLDC motor. The tri-cycle won the Overall First, Best Acceleration and First Runner-up in the Endurance awards. A Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), also known as regenerative braking system, is inbuilt into it in order to harness the energy lost during braking. The Regenerative Braking system used in Effi-cycle makes use of an electronic energy efficient converter to store energy regenerated from the motor during braking, in the form of electrical energy. The system monitors the effective voltage at the BLDC motor driver outputs and calculates the required control algorithms to drive the converter and recover the maximum energy at any point. Microcontrollers are used to monitor the performance of the entire system by tabulating and analysing the different sensor values.
This technical paper provides a literature review on Hybrid Electric Vehicles and various hybrid topologies associated with it. Different kinds of hybrids are available in different parts of the world in various brand names. The main aim of this review is to identify the pros and cons of some prominent topologies that could pave a way to the proposition of new and efficient design. Results from the study indicate that hybrids have a potential to bridge the gap between pure gasoline vehicles to plug in electric vehicles leaving behind time for the technology to mature and to make improvements in the infrastructure for Eco-friendly vehicles.
The Scientometric study examines the research contribution of India towards pollution control by date indexed in Scopus database for 12 years from 2003 to 2014 using different qualitative and quantitative measures. Related relevant literature was reviewed. It has been identified that a total number of 28445 research publications were published during the above cited period. It is identified that 160 research institutions of India were responsible for placing India in the 3 rd place for publishing 1551 publications and also to highlight the h-index gained by the top 15 institutions. Further, the analysis revealed the wise country publications with ranking and the share of India towards research publications with citations along with the type of documents. The impact of relative research effort analyzed through Publication Efficiency Index. The funding agencies are requested to allocate more funds to do many more research on Pollution Control for the betterment of the society.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
