ÖZ. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin şiddet eğilimleri ile okula bağlılık düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Öğrencilerin şiddet eğilimleri ile okula bağlılık düzeylerinin cinsiyete, kardeş sayısına, sınıf düzeyine, ailenin aylık gelir düzeyine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı da incelenmektedir. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama ve nedensel karşılaştırma modelleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 197'si kız 203'ü erkek olmak üzere toplam 400 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama araçları Şiddet Eğilim Ölçeği ve Öğrencinin Okula Bağlılığı Ölçeğidir. Sonuçlara göre, öğrencilerin okula bağlılık düzeyleri azaldıkça şiddet eğilim düzeylerinin arttığı saptanmıştır. Bunun yanında, öğrencilerin şiddet eğilim düzeylerinin erkek öğrencilerde kız öğrencilere göre daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Okula bağlılık düzeyleri açısından kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilere göre okula bağlılık düzeyi daha yüksek bulunmuştur. 8. Sınıf öğrencilerinin 5,6 ve 7. Sınıf öğrencilerine göre daha şiddete eğilimli oldukları ve okula bağlılık düzeylerinin daha düşük seviyede olduğu saptanmıştır. The purpose of the present study is to determine the relationship between the middle-school students' tendency to violence and their levels of engagement to school. Whether students' tendency to violence and their levels of engagement to school differentiated or not will be analyzed according to gender, number of siblings, level of class, monthly income of families. The relational screening and causal comparison methods were used in the study. Sample consisted of 197 female and 203 male, 400 students in total. The Scale of Tendency to Violence and Student Engagement Instrument were used. Results indicated that the students' level of tendency to violence was determined to be increasing as their level of engagement to school decreases. In addition, the level of tendency to violence was determined to be higher in male students compared to female students. The level of engagement to school was found to be higher in female students compared to male students. The 8 th graders were seen to be more prone to violence than the 5 th , 6 th and 7 th graders. Besides, the level of engagement to school of the 8 th graders was found to be lower than the 5 th and 6 th graders.
