Propósito/Contexto. El propósito del artículo es identificar los conocimientos y criterios sobre los principios bioéticos de privacidad y confidencialidad en los especialistas del Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Hermanos Ameijeiras, de la capital cubana, en relación al uso y manejo de los estudios de imágenes y establecer si en su uso a través de las redes se cumplen estos principios.
Metodología/Enfoque. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, entre 2019 y 2021; la aplicación de criterios de selección permitió contar con una muestra constituida por 45 profesionales. Los resultados se analizaron y se estratificaron según grupos y variables de estudio. Se emplearon métodos teóricos, empíricos y de estadística descriptiva y se expresaron en tablas.
Resultados/Hallazgos. El 100% de los encuestados consideró que los resultados de los estudios de imágenes debían comunicarlos los médicos de asistencia. El 75% consideró que los resultados se deben comunicar al paciente competente y el 91% consideró que eran los valores y motivos del paciente los que debían regir en las decisiones éticas. La privacidad en el manejo de los estudios y las redes de imágenes se vulneraba en algunas situaciones.
Discusión/Conclusiones/Contribuciones. Los encuestados consideraron de gran importancia actuar éticamente, respetando la dignidad e intimidad del paciente y la confidencialidad del acto médico. Las redes sociales y el acceso fácil a la información deben ser debidamente manejados para resguardar la confidencialidad.
