A corioamnionite (CA) é uma inflamação aguda da placenta, cório e âmnio, sendo causa comum de complicações adversas maternas e fetais, cuja etiologia nem sempre pode ser identificada. Caracteriza-se por febre materna, taquicardia materna e fetal, leucocitose materna e odor fétido do líquido amniótico. E quando associada à incompetência istmo-cervical representa potencial risco à gestante e ao concepto. Diante do exposto, o presente estudo tem por objetivo relatar a experiência de acadêmicos na assistência de enfermagem em um caso de corioamnionite e incompetência istmo cervical na prática hospitalar. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, tipo relato de experiência, desenvolvido nos meses de outubro e novembro de 2019, por seis estudantes e uma preceptora de campo, no setor de alojamento conjunto, em uma maternidade localizada na zona urbana em um município na região Metropolitana do Cariri cearense. Foi realizada uma busca no portal de periódicos nas bases de dados Scielo e Lilacs para subsidiar a melhor compreensão do fenômeno investigado. A análise de dados se deu por meio das etapas do processo de enfermagem, discussão do caso clínico completo obtido durante a coleta de dados. A experiência na assistência ao caso subsidiou o conhecimento acerca da enfermidade apresentada, configurando-se como oportunidade de alinhamento entre a teoria e prática durante o cuidado à gestação de alto risco.
