Background. Blended learning requires a virtual learning and online environment (VLE), which make available a process for establishing learning communities. The Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Jordan designed a number of courses which incorporate blended learning with contact classes and online components on an e-learning models. Objectives. Of the present study is to investigate if modes of BL possible influence on students' perceived achievement goals and satisfaction. Methods. The research model is tested using a questionnaire survey. Eighty-three undergraduate sport students participated in the courses (Motor Learning) offered by the University's Faculty of Physical Education the participants were divided in two groups. Results. Indicated that students were satisfied with blended program and online learning environment; satisfaction was generally high with 83.4%. The results also show that BL rotation type (students rotate between online and traditional content on fixed schedule) significantly affects learning satisfaction. Moreover, the quality of the teaching received the highest satisfaction level where interaction significantly affected self-study. Conclusion. The feedback of students who are amongst the key stake holders is essential to ensure a successful implementation of bended learning.
The purposes of the present study were: (1) To adapt an Arabic version of self-compassion scale and (2) to examine the relationship between self compassion and emotional intelligence for university students and (3) to explore the differences in self-compassion according to demographic variables. To check the first purpose, study one was run, data was collected from two samples; the first sample consisted of 272 undergraduate students (47% males and 53% females) from Assiut University in Egypt, their ages (M = 19.79 years and SD = 0.73), the second sample consisted of 373 undergraduate students (52% males and 48% females) from King Khalid University (KKU) in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, their ages (M = 19.96 years and SD = 0.70). To check the second purpose, study two was run, data was collected from 185 undergraduate students (52% males and 48% females) from KKU, their ages (M = 21.82 years and SD = 1.05). The present study used the Arabic version of self compassion scale and Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire to check the purposes. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and item-total correlations, used to check the psychometric properties of the Arabic version self-compassion scale, Person correlations used to examine the relationship between self compassion and emotional intelligence and ANOVA was run to explore the differences in self-compassion according to demographic variables. Results indicated that: (1) Arabic version self compassion scale has good psychometric properties, (2) significant positive correlation was found between self compassion and Emotional Intelligence, (3) Women reported significantly lower than men in mindfulness, over-identification, higher than men in overall self-compassion scores, self-judgment and isolation and no significant differences were found between males and females in Self-Kindness and Common Humanity. Also results showed that accommodation place or studying specialization had no significant affect in self compassion.
Mental skills and physical skills are important for success; they are blocks of the complete college students that produce outstanding sports performances. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of mental training skills program on self-compassion and mindfulness. The sample consisted of 32 undergraduate female students from the University of Jordan, their ages (M = 19.2 years, and SD = 0.71). They reported self-compassion scale and mindfulness Questionnaire, after 12 weeks of intervention program. Methods: Self-compassion (SCS) Neff (2003) Scale and Mindfulness Questionnaire FFMQ (Baer et al., 2006). Arabic version was used to assess self-compassion and mindfulness. Results indicated that female students who used mental training program in connection with their gymnastics practice reported significant increases in self-compassion and mindfulness.
The purpose of this study is to provide some background information on autism and how physical activity may be helping individuals with autism. Increasing rates of autism have been noted: Many researchers are involved in finding treatment methods that can help autistic children. Some studies have provided evidence that physical exercise and playing organized sport has been shown to be a beneficial intervention for the treatment of autistic individuals. The development of both motor and social skills has been seen to improve from physical exercise, which presents a challenge to individuals with autism.
