Örgün eğitim sürecinde bireylere kazandırılması hedeflenen temel amaçların başında okuma becerisi ve okuma alışkanlığı gelmektedir. Gelişen dünyada bilgiye farklı kanallardan ulaşmak mümkün olmakla birlikte, bu kanalların pek çoğu iyi bir okuyucu olmaktan geçmektedir. Dolayısıyla lisansüstü çalışmalarda okuma becerisinin çok yönlü ve derinlemesine ele alınması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de 2006-2016 yılları arasında okuma becerisini temel alarak hazırlanmış yüksek lisans ve doktora tezlerinin çeşitli yönlerden değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda Ulusal Tez Merkezinden ulaşılan 317 tez çalışması, "Okuma Becerisi İle İlgili Lisansüstü Tezleri İnceleme Formu" kullanılarak yapıldığı yıl, program türü (yüksek lisans/ doktora), çalışma grubu, kullanılan desen, bölüm, konu ve üniversite bakımından incelenmiştir. İçerik analizinin kullanıldığı çalışmada, elde edilen veriler SPSS programı aracılığıyla kodlanmış, verilerin analizinde nicel betimsel analiz yöntemlerinden frekans ve yüzde kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına bakıldığında en fazla tez yapılan yılın 2013 olduğu (%13,2), tezlerin ağırlıklı olarak yüksek lisans düzeyinde (% 79,8) yapıldığı, çalışma grubu olarak ilk ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin (% 61,5) tercih edildiği, nicel yöntemin (% 69,4) daha çok kullanıldığı, Temel Eğitim bölümlerinde (% 38) okuma becerisi üzerine daha çok tez tamamlandığı, konu olarak en çok "okuma yöntem ve teknikleri"nin (% 16,4) ele alındığı ve Gazi Üniversitesi'nde hazırlanan okumaya yönelik tezlerin (% 16,7) diğer üniversitelere göre daha fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
