Teratomas are rare germ cell tumors usually found in the gonads. Extra-gonadal teratomas are especially rare, mostly occurring in the thorax. Only a few cases of intrathoracic teratomas have been reported in medical literature and most reported were located in the mediastinum. An additional intrathoracic location for teratoma occurrence is in the pulmonary system, most commonly in the upper lobe of the left lung. In this report, we describe a case of a 35-year-old woman diagnosed with an intrapulmonary mature teratoma found in the right upper lobe. A 35-year-old Saudi female presented with a chief complaint of a three-week history of dry cough. Chest X-ray revealed a right-sided para-pericardial mass in the anterior mediastinum and a significant decrease in the size of the right middle lobe opacity. Subsequently, a chest computed tomography (CT) was performed and revealed a cystic mass in the right lung, which required removal by surgical intervention. The surgery was performed via a thoracoscopic approach and the tumor was excised with no complications. Intrapulmonary teratomas (IPT) usually present with vague and non-specific symptoms such as cough, hemoptysis, and chest pain. It is a rare condition without diagnostic features detected preoperatively, save for trichoptysis which is reported in approximately 13% of the cases. We report a rare appearance of mature IPT in the right upper lung zone which is an unusual location.

Purpose: This study examines quality of life of medical students in Yemen by evaluating validity and reliability of the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQOL) and assessing potential influencing factors. Methods: This is a single-centered cross-sectional study conducted in Hadramout University College of Medicine, Mukalla, Yemen during the academic year of 2019. The WHOQOL questionnaire was distributed among medical students. For validity, item discriminate validity and confirmatory factor analysis were assessed and for reliability, Cronbach's α test was examined. Independent sample t -test and one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to examine the academic level, gender, academic performance, and basic life necessities including water, electricity supply, sewage treatment and type of residence. Results: A total of 495 medical students have responded to this questionnaire which has demonstrated an adequate validity and good reliability. The mean score for students' self-rating of their quality of life in the major domains was found to be in a descending order (Mean ± SD): psychological health (55.18 ± 17.84), environmental (52.14 + 17.60), physical health (48.15 + 14.73) and social relations (45.09 ± 20.81). Demographics and basic life needs exhibit relationship with Quality of Life among medical students. Conclusion: The WHOQOL-BREF is a valid and reliable tool among medical students in Hadramout University. Demographics and basic life needs seem to impact Yemeni medical students' Quality of Life. Wellness and mentoring programs should be considered to ameliorate effects related to deteriorating medical students' Quality of Life in Hadramout University.

Introduction: Celiac disease (CD) has been described before in Saudi Arabia (SA) to be at the range of 1% –2% in the general population, but the association of celiac disease and cystic fibrosis (CF) has never been described before in the Middle East. Objectives: To describe the prevalence of the association of CD and CF in patients with gastrointestinal symptomatology in a tertiary care center. Methodology: A retrospective charts review of all confirmed CD and CF patients for the years 1989 –2018. Results: In a total of 391 confirmed CF patients, 74 of them (19%) had celiac screening due to their symptomatology in the form of (abdominal pain and distension, vomiting, diarrhea despite adequate pancreatic enzyme replacements, and had high antigliadin antibodies and anti-transglutaminase IgA (tTGA). Thirty-five of the 74 patients were male (47.3%, and 39 (52.7%) were female patients. The mean age at diagnosis of CD was 6.1 (3.9), and the mean age at follow up was 7 (5 years). Only 2 of the 74 patients (3%) had bowel biopsies with the typical pathological findings of CD with villous atrophy. Both patients were placed on a gluten-free diet and showed marked improvement in symptomatology and weight gain. Conclusion: CD screening should be considered in all CF patients despite the absence of symptoms. The prevalence of CD in CF patients in SA is similar to or slightly higher than that of the general population. A further study to screen the whole CF population is needed to delineate the actual prevalence, particularly in nonsymptomatic CF.
