This article discusses the characteristics of teacher who teaches Islamic sciences in the perspective of the Nahdlatul Wathan educational tradition, comprehensively. On the other hand, this article is one form of response to the moral degradation of teachers that have recently been rife, especially in Indonesia. This article is the result of qualitative research with a literature approach. Primary data are the books of Tuan Guru Kiai Haji Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid (Sheikh), which include Wasiat Renungan Masa (Book), Batu Ngompal (Book), the struggle song of Nahdlatul Wathan, and the recording of Sheikh's speech during his lifetime. Secondary data consists of scientific journals and relevant research results, as well as Islamic education books, Sufism, tafsīr and hadīth. Data was collected offline and online, then analyzed by using the NVivo 12 Plus software. This study shows that nine characteristics must be possessed by religious teachers who teach in the Nahdlatul Wathan madrasas/pesantrean (Islamic boarding school), namely: murshīd, sincere, obedient, mandate, behave as the teacher's morals, have a clear pedigree (silsilah/sanad), wise and polite in speaking, competent, and straight (istiqamah). This study concludes that the characteristics of the teacher mentioned in the will of the Sheikh are based on the results of contemplation (tafakkur), empirical experience (tajrībah), and extensive knowledge.
Kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk menganalisis pendidikan akhlak yang terdapat dalam kitab Mau’izhatul Mu’minin Min Ihya’ ‘Ulumuddin karya Jamaluddin al-Qasimi. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan kaedah kajian kepustakaan. Sumber utama dalam kajian ini adalah Kitab Mauizatul Mu' minin min Ihya’ ‘Ulumuddin. Data-data yang diperoleh kemudian dipilih, dieksplorasi, dipersembahkan, dan dianalisis. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa terdapat tiga bentuk pendidikan akhlak menerusi kitab Mau’izhatul Mu’minin Min Ihya’ ‘Ulumuddin, iaitu: 1) akhlak kepada Allah SWT, 2) akhlak kepada Rasullullah SAW, dan 3) akhlak kepada sesama manusia.
This study is aimed to determine the influence of faith incentives on teachers’ teaching practices in private tahfiz institutions in Perak. 33 teachers teaching tahfiz al-Quran were involved in this study. They were randomly selected from the tahfiz institutions of ADDIN Foundation. A set of questionnaires containing 15 items were built to measure the faith incentives and 10 items were used as instruments to measure the teaching practices. Findings from the questionnaire that were analyzed descriptively showed that overall level of faith incentives provided by the manager or administrator of tahfiz institutions was at a high level with a mean value (4.60). The findings also showed a significant correlation between faith incentives and teachers' teaching practices. The result of this study summarized that incentive of faith has some influence on the practice of teaching by tahfiz al-Quran teachers.Keywords: teaching practice, tahfiz Al-Quran teachers, faith incentives.AbstrakKajian ini bertujuan untuk menyingkap pengaruh insentif keimanan terhadap amalan pengajaran guru di maahad tahfiz al-Quran swasta Negeri Perak. Seramai (33) orang guru tahfiz al-Quran terlibat sebagai sampel yang dipilih secara rawak mudah daripada semua maahad Tahfiz Yayasan ADDIN. Bagi mencapai objektif kajian, satu set soal selidik yang mengandungi (15) item untuk mengukur insentif keimanan dan (10) item untuk mengukur amalan pengajaran digunakan sebagai instrumen. Dapatan dari soal selidik yang dianalisis secara deskriptif menunjukkan secara keseluruhan tahap insentif keimanan yang telah disediakan oleh pengurus atau pentadbir maahad berada pada tahap yang tinggi dengan nilai min (4.60). Dapatan kajian turut menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan antara insentif keimanan dengan amalan pengajaran guru. Implikasi kajian merumuskan insentif keimanan mempunyai pengaruh terhadap amalan pengajaran guru tahfiz al-Quran.Keywords: insentif keimanan, amalan pengajaran, guru tahfiz al-Quran
The principal pursuit of Islamic Education is to produce exceptional and faithful Muslims. Nevertheless, today's mass media often demonstrates various issues involving teenagers and school students in social issues that harm society, which is worrisome. The social environment's influence significantly impacts the younger generation, especially teenagers and students. Education is the ground of individual development and advancement and the primary platform for shaping the personality of noble morals. Morality and character are paramount in Islam and are the essence of understanding and practising Islamic teachings. Therefore, several social environment factors influence the development of students' morals, self-identity and personality. Social environment factors can nurture and decide students' morals if students can adapt well. Hence, this article intended to discuss the social environment that affects and influences the formation of students' morals and the issues and challenges faced. This study employed the literature review methodology by analysing and discussing the content of the text thematically to identify the elements that impact the development of morals and the issues and challenges to form the student's self-identity. Ultimately, this article concluded that the social environment was identified as having a substantial impact on developing students' morals consisting of parents, peers, teachers, schools, residential settings and the mass media. One must prioritise the roles and responsibilities of parties related to each other to determine student morals. This article is relevant for teachers, parents, schools and interconnected parties to apply good values so that the country can produce a young generation with noble character and deliver awareness to avoid misconduct among this young generation to form individuals who are positivethinkers for their future well-being.
