Human hemoglobin of G-Makassar variant has been reported very rarely with Beta Thalassemia. In year 1969 Hb GMakassar was first identified in Makassar, Sulawesi (Celebes), Republic of Indonesia. The disease was first published in 1969 and 33 years later it has been reported at a family of Thailand origin. We report a 45-yearold Malay man who was investigated for anemia and thrombocytopenia then diagnosed with Hb G-Makassar. This finding describes as a new Hemoglobin GMakassar discovered in Malaysia after 14 years diagnosed in Thailand.
Dielectrophoresis (DEP) has increasingly been used for the assessment of the electrical properties of molecular scale objects including proteins, DNA, nanotubes and nanowires. However, whilst techniques have been developed for the electrical characterisation of frequency-dependent DEP response, biomolecular study is usually limited to observation using fluorescent markers, limiting its applicability as a characterisation tool. In this paper we present a label-free, impedance-based method of characterisation applied to the determination of the electrical properties of colloidal protein molecules, specifically Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA). By monitoring the impedance between electrodes as proteins collect, it is shown to be possible to observe multi-dispersion behaviour. A DEP dispersion exhibited at 400 kHz is attributable to the orientational dispersion of the molecule, whilst a second, higher-frequency dispersion is attributed to a Maxwell-Wagner type dispersion; changes in behaviour with medium conductivity suggest that this is strongly influenced by the electrical double layer surrounding the molecule.
In this paper we use dielectrophoresis to determine the electrical properties of poly(dG)-poly(dC) (GC) and poly(dA)-poly(dT) (AT) DNA in solution. The molecules show different conduction mechanisms, with GC DNA predominately through the molecule, but that conduction through the counterion cloud surrounding the molecule in solution is the more significant conductor in AT DNA. Moreover, the effect of frequency on DNA lengths differing by four orders of magnitude show no difference in the dielectrophoretic response.
Electrocardiography machine is a useful device to determine the rate and regularity of heart beats. A real ECG machines with complex and multiple functions make a biomedical engineering students difficult to discover. This work has been demonstrated to enable students and end-users to learn the ECG basics principle. The ECG with a less complex circuits performing multiple data and will enable the signal processing analysis. LabVIEW is used to validate and compiling data analysis.
