Circular current distribution is conventionally used to model current on spiral antennas. However, this model does not include the radial component of the current on the spiral arms. Therefore, it is valid only for the spiral antennas with very small values of the growth rate, where the radial component of the current is negligible. This study proposes a modified current distribution including both radial and azimuthal components of the current, hence, the modified model is not restricted to very small values of the growth rate. Using the modified current distribution, the radiation characteristics of spiral antennas with different growth rates are extracted. Validation is achieved by comparison of the results with those obtained by full wave numerical simulations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
