This research has the purpose to explore implementation contextual character education in Senior High School in Buli village, East Halmahera Regency, Eastern Indonesia, and Remote Indigenous Community (RIC) role in addressing student behavior to improve education quality in that area. Sources of data from this qualitative research are teachers, students, village leader, and religious leaders. Focuses of the research are (1) socioeconomic conditions in families who live in the remote areas regarding adolescent character, (2) the influence of mobile phones and the internet, (3) the role of the customary leader in the control of norms in adolescents, and (4) good habits in schools as an effort to implement the character education program of adolescents in schools. The results of this study showed that (1) the economic condition of the family causes the child does not get the quality of attention and quality of time. Parents are preoccupied with working to sustain life, so schools are considered a burden because of school fees;(2) social media causes everyone to access all information in their own way and the lack of social control causes the use of social media to influence the pattern of relations and communication patterns; (3) the role of RIC can be optimal if supported by members who have better education, and awareness to promote education in their village; and (4) good habituation can arise if the school implements positive discipline and commitment to carry out character education in accordance with local wisdom and local culture.
This qualitative research has purpose in order to get deep meaning of peace education and child protection in the Papua island, Indonesia, relate with (1) how children at risk at home or in the community; (2) how situational factors affecting child protection in schools relate with bullying (physical, verbal and psychological abuse) by staff and peers; (3) how peace building and child protection policy for educational settings in the elementary school. Location of the research was in two districts, such as: Teluk Bintuni and Fakfak. The result of this research indicate that peace building and child protection canbe intepreted based on: (1) strong education in the family; (2) the importance of attention to the socially outside of school; (3) atmosphere environment in school; (4) strengthen of friendship peers in the school; (5) atmosphere in the classroom; (6) methods of theaching by teacher; (7) strengthen the role of teaches as educator; (8) strengthen relationship teacher-student-parent; (9) exempary habituation; (10) implementation of curriculum-based character in the teaching learning process; (11) strengthen of character education; (12) strengthen the role of school principal.
AbstrakPendidikan karakter bagi siswa adalah untuk membentuk kepribadian yang hasilnya terlihat dalam tindakan nyata para siswa, yaitu dalam tingkah laku yang baik, jujur bertanggung jawab, menghormati orang lain, kerja keras, dan sebagainya. Di era globalisasi yang multikultural dewasa ini, maka pendidikan karakter sangat penting guna menjadi norma dalam kehidupan siswa. Pendidikan karakter menuntut pemimpin sekolah berwawasan yang baik terhadap implementasi pendidikan karakter di sekolah yang dipimpinnya. AbstractCharacter education for students is for shaping one's personality in which the results are seen in the actions of students such as good behavior, honesty, responsibility, respect for others and hard work. In the era of globalization and current multicultural context, character education is essential in order to become a norm in the lives of students. Character education requires school leaders to have a good insight into its implementation of character education in the schools they lead.
The purpose of this paper is to provide an understanding importance of multicultural education for students in the schools relate with diversity in the era of Asean Economic Community. The ASEAN, which groups eleven countries, is a very diverse region, with different dynamics that are owned by their respective countries, particularly when associated with education. Diversities can be seen from the many islands, ethnicity, culture, language and religion. Regardless all those differences, these eleven countries share a similar emphasis on human resource development as a key in developing the whole nation to enter the knowledge-based economy and global environment. Pluralism that is the one of the power and uniqueness in the ASEAN Economic Community that can be interpreted as diversity in unity. Diversity, on the one hand is a blessing, because it actually reflects the diversity of the wealth of cultural treasures. But on the other hand, diversity is also great potential for growing proliferation of conflicts, particularly if such diversity is not able to run well. To build the ASEAN community who recognize and appreciate the differences required processes and better understanding through relevant education. Education, as a fundamental human right, is considered very important and strategic for developing their human resources. The right to education imposes an obligation upon countries to ensure that all children and citizens have opportunities to meet their basic learning needs. Promoting quality and equity education is a common policy for countries regardless their different levels of development. Herein lies the importance of multicultural education. Multicultural education becomes strategic for ASEAN nations to be able to manage the plurality creatively, and can be interpreted as an internalization process of values in educational institutions.
Latar belakang: Seiring dengan perkembangan jaman, dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini banyak perhatian yang difokuskan pada eksplorasi dampak penyakit fisik dan mental pada kualitas hidup seseorang baik secara individu maupun masyarakat secara keseluruhan. Sifat subyektif dari 'kualitas hidup' individu, merupakan konsep yang dinamis untuk diukur dan didefinisikan, tetapi bahwa secara umum dapat dipandang sebagai konsep multidimensi yang menekankan pada persepsi diri dari keadaan pikiran seseorang saat iniTujuan: penulisan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang peran masyarakat dalam memahani pentingnya kesehatan di era global ditinjau dari perspektif akademis. Pada sektor kesehatan pemahaman kesehatan menjadi sangat pentingnya karena akan menunjukkan pada kualitas hidup seseorang, tetapi hal ini tidak cukup secara individu karena diperlukan pemahaman secara menyeluruh terhadap masyarakat tentang makna kesehatan dan perawatan kesehatan.Metode: penulisan ilmiah ini adalah dengan melakukan analisa akademis dari dari berbagai sumber rujukan relevan sehingga menemukan makna teoritis baru dalam rangka menjawab tantangan yang terjadi di masyarakat.Hasil: Berdasarkan berbagai sumber rujukan yang ada, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesehatan merupakan gaya hidup yang bertujuan untuk mencapai kesejahteraan fisik, emosional, intelektual, spiritual, dan lingkungan. Penggunaan langkah-langkah kesehatan dapat meningkatkan stamina, energi, dan harga diri, kemudian meningkatkan kualitas hidup. Dengan demikian maka konsep kesehatan memungkinkan adanya variabilitas individu. Kesehatan dapat dianggap sebagai keseimbangan aspek fisik, emosional, psikologis, sosial dan spiritual dari kehidupan seseorang.
