The purpose of this research is to know about students problem solving ability between students who implemented metacognitive strategy and conventional strategy, to know about students problem solving ability between student who have high perception, medium perception dan low perception in mathematics, and to know about interaction between of strategy and perception. This research is quasy experimental. The population of this research were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Karangreja year 2014/2015. The sample of this research were 2 class which is 63 students with cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis is used descriptive analysis dan two ways Anava or F-test. The result of this research showed that: The problem solving ability of experiment class better than control class that is ; The problem solving ability of student who have high perception is better than medium and low perception, the problem solving ability of students who have medium perception is equal with low perception that is , and there is no interaction between of strategy and level of perception in problem solving ability that is .
AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) terhadap kemampuan memecahkan masalah matematika siswa ditinjau dari kemampuan awal siswa. Penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan 367 siswa sebagai sampel penelitian yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik cluster. Variabel penelitian ini adalah kemampuan memecahkan masalah, kemampuan awal, dan model pembelajaran. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis varians. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) TAI lebih efektif digunakan dibandingkan Direct Instruction (DI); (2) Siswa berkemampuan awal sedang lebih baik jika dibanding dengan siswa berkemampuan awal rendah dan tinggi; (3) Pada siswa berkemampuan awal sedang, pembelajaran TAI lebih efektif digunakan jika dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran langsung; dan (4) Pada TAI dan DI, kemampuan memecahkan masalah matematika relatif sama.

AbstractThis research aims to test the effectiveness of the Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) towards the ability of the students to solve mathematics problems based on their initial ability. This study is an experiment with 367 students involved as the research sample taken using the cluster technique. The research variable is the problem-solving ability, the initial ability, and the learning model. Analysis of variance was used to analyze the data which leads to the conclusions that (1) the TAI is more effective than the Direct Instruction (DI); (2) the students having moderate initial ability performed better compared to the lower and the higher initial ability; (3) among the students with moderate initial ability, TAI was more effective to be used than DI; and (4) in the implementation of TAI and DI, the problem solving ability of the students is relatively similar.
Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis (1) siswa yang diajar menggunakan TAI dan model pembelajaran langsung, (2) siswa dengan tingkatan kemampuan awal yang berbeda. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jogjakarta dengan ukuran sampel 66 siswa yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Variabel penelitian adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, kemampuan awal dan model pembelajaran. Data diperoleh dengan dokumentasi untuk kemampuan awal dan tes untuk kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan menggunakan analisis variansi dua jalur (ANAVA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis matematika pada siswa yang menggunakan TAI maupun model pembelajaran langsung, pada tingkatan kemampuan awal yang berbeda juga tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis.
