The presented experiment adds new parameters to the understanding of in vivo mesh behavior. Elongation of the front abdominal wall may stretch implanted mesh and could be a cause of recurrence in cases of insufficient fixation.

Interstitial 2q deletions are very rare chromosome abnormalities. The 2q32q33 deletion was proposed as a distinct entity with characteristic phenotype. Most patients have feeding problems, growth restriction, moderate to severe developmental delay, speech delay or lack of speech, high, prominent forehead, thin sparse hair, teeth abnormalities and a high or cleft palate. We report on another rare case of interstitial 2q33 deletion found during routine karyotyping and further characterized by the use of a genomic SNP array. The patient presented here has a "Marfanoid" phenotype, hypothyroidism, and a marked tactile hypersensitivity. We concluded that hypothyroidism might be caused by the deletion of the CD28 and/or CTLA4 genes; also cardiological monitoring of patients with the deletion including BMPR2 may be considered in order to prevent the possible medical complications associated with pulmonary hypertension.

Some changes in chromosome morphology, detected during cytogenetic analysis, are not associated with clinical defects. Therefore a proper discrimination of harmless variants from true abnormalities, especially during prenatal diagnosis, is crucial to allow precise counseling. In this review we described chromosome variants and examples of chromosome anomalies that are considered to be unrelated to phenotypic consequences. The correlation between the presence of marker chromosomes and a risk of clinical signs is also discussed. Structural rearrangements of heterochromatic material, satellite polymorphism, or fragile sites, are well-known examples of common chromosome variation. However, the absence of clinical effects has also been reported in some cases of chromosome abnormalities concerning euchromatin. Such euchromatic anomalies were divided into 2 categories: unbalanced chromosome abnormalities (UBCAs), such as deletions or duplications, and euchromatic variants (EVs). Recently so-called molecular karyotyping, especially whole-genome screening by the use of high-resolution array-CGH technique, contributed to revealing a high number of previously unknown small genomic variations, which seem to be asymptomatic, as they are present in phenotypically normal individuals.

Einkristalle von Sr11Os26+Os27+O24 wurden in geschlossenen Silberbömbchen aus SrO, Osmium und einem überschuß von KO2 erhalten. Diese Substanz kristallisiert monoklin, Raumgruppe C 2h6–I12/a1 mit a = 11,703; b = 16,058; c = 11,696 Å; β = 90,03°; Z = 4. Sie zeigt eine neue Kristallstruktur, die durch ein [Sr11O24]26−‐Gerüst mit eingelagerten Os6+ und Os7+‐Ionen ausgezeichnet ist. Berechnungen des Coulombterm der Gitterenergie führen zu einer geordneten Verteilung der zwei Valenzen des Osmiums.

Einkristalle von Ca3IrCuO6 wurden mit Hilfe von Schmelzmitteln dargestellt und röntgenographisch untersucht. Es kristallisiert mit monokliner Symmetrie in der Raumgruppe C 2h6—C12/c1, mit a = 9,032, b = 9,295, c = 6,466 Å, β = 91,35°, Z = 4. Ca3IrCuO6 ist mit Sr3IrCuO6 isotyp. Die planaren CuO4‐Baugruppen zeigen wahrscheinlich ein geringes Defizit an Cu2+, welches durch einen adäquaten Teil von Ir5+ kompensiert wird.
