In order to be happy at the workplace, employees need to feel engaged with the work environment. Work engagement refers to a work-related mental state that is positive and fulfilling, characterized by vigor (high levels of energy while working), dedication (sense of meaning, enthusiasm, inspiration, pride and challenge) and absorption (the individual’s complete concentration at work, which makes time fly quickly without his noticing). Besides that, the personal energy that individuals bring to their work is associated with work engagement. This study is done to investigate the factors that allow work engagement at the workplace emphasizing in assisting and addressing experience gaps in the strictest sense of the word by assigning values for the lasting connections actions to the relevant individuals, causing the person or the team to simply focus on producing outcomes in a healthy workplace and collaborative nature.115 participants responded to a survey given online. Findings reveal several factors that can lead to a positive culture at the workplace.
Working from home (WFH) has become the new norm for millions of employees in Malaysia and throughout the globe as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the epidemic, many employees and businesses were forced to abruptly and unpreparedly transition to WFH which has impacted employee's productivity. This study aims to explore employee's perception on flexibility, work-life balance and work-life performance of WFH. This study employed a quantitative survey comprising three sections focusing on employee's flexibility, work-life balance and work-life performance. A total of 100 employees from both private and government sectors in Malaysia served as the respondents of this study. The results obtained show that employees prefer WFH as they benefited from the flexibility given by their employers. In addition, working from home has provided a work-life balance and increased the performance of employees. The findings have important ramifications for organisations, working professionals, and policymakers.
As work from home and other working flexible models such as telework, or telecommuting become more widespread with the new advancement in digitalization transformation, work from home (WFH) arrangement on an unprecedented global scale has been adopted by many organizations. WFH is one of the alternatives of working model occurrence emanating from the Covid-19 pandemic as the lockdown or stay-at-home measures entered force. Nevertheless, employees faced up and down motivation during WFH, and triggered the studies series on motivator and demotivating factors for WFH. However, previous studies have only discussed the topic theory-wise and not into factors that motivate or drawback from employees' views. Provided that, this paper aims to fill in the gaps by examining the motivator and demotivating factors of WFH. Using a quantitative approach, 58 workers from public local universities who have WFH experience participated in the survey and the response was analyzed with Descriptive statistics using SPSS software. The study identifies both flexibility and work-life balance as motivator factors while work performance is a demotivating factor for WFH. The outcome of this study can be of strategic importance for higher education institutions to improve the WFH standard operating procedure structure in the future where further research can scrutinize the demotivating factors from a different perspective to provide a better solution for WFH. Moreover, this study can analyze gender and married with single to get multiple responses for benefitted party and finally further research on WFH operation level efficiency.
Instagram, the photo, and the video-sharing social medium are rapidly gaining popularity. Malaysia presents an excellent case for exploring the influence of culture on Instagram use. Like other developing countries, the traditional culture of Malaysia greatly affects the attitudes and behaviors of its people. It is interesting to examine the influence of gender on Instagram use activities. In Malaysia, the culture, besides security reasons, inhabits females from disclosing contact information. The central theme of this research paper is to understand gender differences in Instagram use by students in higher education students. This study uses the quantitative method where it involves 200 university students as the participants. The sample was selected among the students who take general studies in order to have a concrete result. This study confirms that males are more likely than females to post their personal pictures on Instagram, more likely to disclose their personal information, and more likely to have public accounts, unlike females who are more likely to have private accounts than males.
