O turismo de observação de aves (birdwatching) vem crescendo no Brasil, sendo ainda incipiente no estado de Goiás e restrito a poucas regiões. Este trabalho avalia e discute o potencial do município de Goiás como um destino para o turismo de observação de aves. Realizou-se um levantamento do número de espécies de aves no município e analisou-se a composição de espécies, destacando aquelas que podem ser atrativas aos observadores. Também foi feito o levantamento dos locais com potencial para o birdwatching, com destaque das espécies atrativas, descrição da infraestrutura básica e específica e proposição de medidas para a melhoria da estrutura. Foram registradas 313 espécies, das quais oito são endêmicas do Cerrado, três são ameaçadas, cinco migratórias e 32 parcialmente migratórias. Foram identificadas oito áreas com potencial para a observação de aves. A riqueza e composição de aves e a presença de locais propícios ao birdwatching indicam que Goiás tem potencial para a atividade. No entanto, para que tenha êxito, é necessário um cuidadoso planejamento envolvendo a administração pública, a iniciativa privada e demais interessados. O estímulo a este turismo em Goiás poderá contribuir para o crescimento do ecoturismo no município e trazer benefícios socioeconômicos e ambientais.

O bioma Mata Atlântica possui menos de 8% das formações originais. Exercendo influência direta em mais de 80% da população brasileira que vive em seu domínio, a conservação desse bioma é um verdadeiro desafio às gerações atuais. Emerge dessa forma a necessidade da criação de mecanismos de conservação mais eficientes e participativos, que visem ampliar a cobertura com espécies nativas. A área escolhida para o estudo de caso foi a Serra da Prata, no litoral sul do Estado do Paraná. Duas unidades de conservação (UCs) recobrem o domínio dessa Serra: a Área de Proteção Ambiental de Guaratuba e o Parque Nacional Saint-Hilaire/Lange. Por possuírem caráter restritivo, essas UCs geram conflitos com as comunidades que vivem dentro e/ou no entorno delas. O objetivo da pesquisa foi conhecer os impactos das populações humanas locais sobre os recursos naturais das UCs. Para compreender os potenciais conflitos de uso dos recursos que vêm ocorrendo na área foi necessária intensa pesquisa bibliográfica e visitas às comunidades.
