RESUMO ABSTRACTA Ecocardiografia é uma das áreas do rol da Imagenologia Veterinária em expansão nas clínicas veterinárias. Nesta revisão são descritas as noções básicas sobre o funcionamento dos equipamentos e a aquisição das imagens, a avaliação anatômica e fisiológica do coração a partir de modalidades de imagens em modo M (movimento) e em Doppler, além das alterações mais comuns observadas em exames ecocardiográficos de cães e gatos. Esta revisão é dirigida principalmente para alunos de Medicina Veterinária em estágio na área de diagnóstico por imagem.Palavras-chave: Cardiologia de pequenos animais, Doppler, ecocardiografia, estágio, modo M.Echocardiography is one of the areas of the Veterinary Imaging list in expansion in veterinary clinics. In this review it is described the basics of the operation of echocardiography equipment and the acquisition of the images, the anatomical and physiological assessment of heart in M-mode (motion mode) and Doppler images, besides the more common changes seen in echocardiographic examination of dogs and cats. This review is addressed primarily for students of Veterinary Medicine in diagnostic imaging internship.
