O artigo tem como proposta demostrar como a moda praia tornou-se um componente genuíno e valorizado da economia criativa brasileira e produto de uma determinada cultura. Visa também apresentar a cidade do Rio de Janeiro como a paisagem capital para o surgimento da referida moda. O trabalho pressupõe três vetores fundamentais para a conformação de uma cultura praiana que resulta na produção dos objetos de moda praia; o primeiro a conformação geográfica da cidade e seus espaços habitados, o segundo a imbricação das três matrizes étnicas brasileira e o terceiro o processo de conformação de uma identidade cultural.
O artigo investiga as transformações na representação da imagem da mulher retratada nas peças publicitárias da Kodak, para suas câmeras domésticas, do final do século XIX aos anos 1980 - período que reflete o apogeu da fotografia analógica. O estudo foi realizado por meio de uma revisão de literatura e levantamento iconográfico, que subsidiaram uma avaliação da evolução da publicidade da empresa e da forma como a mulher é retratada. Os resultados demonstraram uma evolução da percepção sobre o papel social da mulher, que partiu de uma proposta empoderada e “libertária” no início do século passado, seguindo para uma visão que progressivamente transformou a mulher em objeto do produto que a empoderava a partir da década de 1930, até chegar a uma abordagem que reforçava princípios de uma visão estereotipada da mulher, a partir dos anos 1960.
Resumo: O Rio de Janeiro estabeleceu-se como um centro urbano debruçado sobre a faixa oceânica. Desse modo, cultivou uma cultura balneária que, a partir de diversos vetores, findou por definir um tipo de design de moda muito relacionado ao uso dos espaços praianos. Neste artigo apontamos o processo de caracterização do biquíni como um objeto de moda genuinamente carioca.
