Se evaluó el efecto de la suplementación con ensilaje de estiércol porcino sobre indicadores productivos de novillas raza Hartón del Valle, Se utilizó un diseño Irrestrictamente al azar, se aplicó pruebas de normalidad distributiva, análisis de varianza y prueba de Tukey, los animales fueron asignados al azar a dos grupos experimentales. Los dos grupos consumieron como base forrajera, pasto King grass morado (Pennisetum purpureum CV King grass) y los ensilajes suministrados a las novillas contenían dos niveles de inclusión del estiércol 15% (T1) y 30% (T2). Se seleccionaron 12 hembras destetadas de la línea Zanjón Hondo, con peso promedio de 218 kg ± 6 kg, de 12 meses de edad, donde se determinaron por un periodo de 45 días, los indicadores productivos de consumo, cambio de peso y conversión alimenticia. Los dos niveles de suplementación con porquinaza no afectaron (P>0.05) el consumo voluntario de materia seca (CVMS) 6,58 (T1) y 7,06 (T2) kg/MS/animal/día. Sin embargo, si hubo diferencias (P< 0.05) en ganancia diaria de peso, las cuales fueron de 0,53 para T1 y 0,38 kg/día en T2. La conversión alimenticia se estimó en 11,66 en T1 y 18,89 en T2 (P<0.05). Se concluye que los indicadores productivos de novillas Hartón del Valle resultan satisfactorios al incorporar 15 % de estiércol de cerdo deshidratado en el ensilaje como el alimento suplementario en el periodo de levante.
El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar el efecto de inclusión de dos niveles de Saccharomyces cerevisiae en la producción y calidad de la leche de bovinos del trópico alto del departamento del Putumayo, Colombia. Se utilizaron 12 vacas Holstein a inicios de lactación y de 450 kg de peso promedio, en un diseño cross over. Las vacas fueron asignadas a dos tratamientos con dos niveles de inclusión de S. cerevisiae (T1, 100 g y T2 150 g) en el suplemento. Se trabajo en dos periodos de 12 días (siete días de adaptación y cinco días de evaluación). Se determinó la calidad y la producción de leche, así como los indicadores del perfil metabólico (glucosa, colesterol y nitrógeno ureico en sangre). No se encontraron diferencias significativas para la producción de leche (14.86 vs 14.27 kg vaca día) ni en el perfil metabólico, pero hubo una mayor proporción de proteína y grasa en la leche de las vacas de T1 (p<0.05).
Se evaluó el efecto del lactosuero bovino (LB) como sustituto de los antibióticos promotores de crecimiento (APC) en la dieta de lechones en la etapa de post destete. Se utilizaron 48 lechones destetados de 21 días (d) de edad. Se tomaron registros de control de peso al 1; 8; 15 y 21 d post destete, se tomaron muestras de sangre al inicio y al final del ensayo, Se evaluó la presencia de diarreas diariamente. Los cerdos fueron alimentados con una dieta comercial para la etapa y fueron distribuidos en cuatro tratamientos: SASS; alimento comercial sin APC, sin adición de lactosuero, SACS; alimento comercial sin APC, con adición de lactosuero, CASS; alimento comercial con APC (virginiamicina al 2 %, 1 kg·t-1 de alimento) y sin adición de lactosuero, CACS; alimento comercial con APC con adición de lactosuero. Se empleó un diseño experimental factorial 2x2 (con y sin antibiótico, con y sin suero) con seis repeticiones por tratamiento. Para los parámetros zootécnicos no se hallaron diferencias significativas entre tratamientos (P>0,05). Los animales del tratamiento CACS obtuvieron valores inferiores de incidencia de diarreas, los tratamientos SACS y CASS observaron resultados similares en parámetros zootécnicos, el tratamiento SASS tuvo valores superiores en la incidencia de diarreas. Se concluye que el LB, como suplemento de la dieta en lechones en etapa post destete, podrían ser una alternativa en el sustituto de antibióticos de dietas comerciales para lechones.
