O presente estudo investigou os fatores que influenciam na adesão e desistência em um programa de exercício físico para idosos implantado nas Unidades Locais de Saúde (ULS) de Florianópolis, SC. Para isso, foram entrevistados 13 idosos, com idade média de 71,08 (DP=5,75) anos, por meio de uma entrevista semiestruturada aplicada via telefone. Concluiu-se que o principal motivo para adesão ao programa é o aspecto relacionamento (convite de amigos e/ou familiares) e dentre os motivos de desistência estão causas pessoais (problemas de saúde do cônjuge, morte do mesmo ou demais familiares) foram os mais freqüentes.
Analisar o perfil de morbidade e o padrão de acesso a serviços de saúde de 132 mulheres e 33 homens, com idade média de 69,1 ± 6,0 anos, praticantes de atividade física. Aplicou-se um questionário referente ao perfil sociodemográfico, atividade física praticada, morbidade autorreferida e acesso aos serviços de saúde. Na análise de dados, utilizou-se estatística descritiva e inferencial com nível de significância de 5%. A maioria dos idosos tem de 60 a 69 anos (55,7%), hipertensão arterial (48,4%) e pratica hidroginástica (52,7%). As mulheres de 60 a 69 anos (p<0,05) e 70 a 79 anos (p<0,05) apresentaram pelo menos uma doença crônica. Os indicadores de acesso aos serviços de saúde foram semelhantes entre os sexos (p>0,05). Os idosos mais jovens foram mais vezes ao médico durante o ano que as idosas mais jovens (p<0,05). Nos demais estratos etários, a hegemonia feminina se manteve, com diferença significativa apenas entre 70 e 79 anos (p<0,05). A maioria dos idosos procurou o médico particular (33,3%) e o centro de saúde (27,8%). Os principais problemas na utilização dos serviços de saúde foram os medicamentos (64,8%) e a demora na marcação de consultas (48,4%). Observa-se que os idosos estão preocupados com a prevenção da saúde, que pode estar relacionado com os benefícios da prática de atividade física.

Resumo Este estudo visou a avaliar a relação entre o nível de atividade física e as condições de saúde de idosos participantes de grupos de convivências, na cidade de São José, SC, Brasil. A população foi composta por 1.652 idosos participantes de 37 grupos de convivência cadastrados na Secretaria de Desenvolvimento e Ação Social da Prefeitura de São José, e da Associação de Voluntárias Josefense da Ação Social (AVJS), sendo a amostra formada por 262 idosos, com média de idade de 70,05±6,7 anos. Foi encontrada diferença significativa (p=0,006) na relação entre nível de atividade física e um estado de saúde atual dificultante da prática da mesma. Concluiu-se que idosos pouco ativos estão mais relacionados a um estado de saúde comprometedor da prática de atividade física, devendo-se criar estratégias multidisciplinares para reverter este quadro.
