L’objectif de cette recherche est de comprendre comment le maraboutage dans le football navétane détermine le niveau de réussite des joueurs dans la mesure où les représentations, les normes et les valeurs qui lui sont attribuées semblent conditionner les attitudes et les conduites des acteurs. Pour ce faire, l’étude s’est appuyée essentiellement sur l’analyse de discours réalisés à partir des entretiens semi directifs effectués auprès des acteurs du mouvement navétane de la zone cinq de la commune de Saint-Louis. Il ressort qu’ils adoptent des comportements et attitudes vis-à-vis du maraboutage qui s’inscrivent en droite ligne avec les dispositions qu’ils ont acquises dans la société. Ces comportements sont fortement intériorisés dans leurs représentations sociales. Dès lors, cette intériorisation des dispositions constitue une contrainte qui ajuste, d’une part, leurs manières de faire, d’être et de se sentir dans le football et détermine, d’autre part, la place et l’importance du maraboutage dans le football navétane.
