This study attempted to find out: (1) Whether the Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) affects students’ reading comprehension or not, (2) The application of task based language teaching towards students’ reading motivation. This study employed quasi experimental design to scrutinize the applicability of TBLT which involving 2nd grade students of Junior High School 7 Kendari registered in academic year 2019/2020. To this end, 62 participants (including an experimental group and a control class ones) were selected through purposive sampling from among 180 students. Task Based Language Teaching was applied in teaching reading comprehension in experimental group while in control group ones was applied conventional. Both groups were taught the same topic. The test was administered before treatment (pre-test) to examine the students’ previous reading comprehension and it was then compared with their post-test to examine their reading comprehension after being taught using TBLT. Reading test and questionnaire as the instruments of this study. The data from reading test was used to figure out the students’ reading comprehension by using t-test while the data from questionnaire was to figure out the students’ reading motivation. All collected data were computed and analysed by using SPSS 24. The results of reading comprehension test revealed that TBLT significantly effects students’ reading comprehension. Moreover, the result of questionnaire displayed that the students became more motivated to read through Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT). Students’ speaking performance could be affected by factors that come from performance conditions (time pressure, planning, standard of performance and amount of support), affective factors (such as motivation, confidence and anxiety), listening ability, topical knowledge and feedback during speaking activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze, describe and determine factors affecting students’ difficulties in speaking performance of the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tiworo Kepulauan. This study employed quantitative design in the form of survey. The samples were 30 students of X MIA 2 which were taken by using random sampling. The data were collected by using close ended questionnaire and were analyzed by using SPSS version 16. The results of this research showed that of the three factors affecting students’ difficulties in speaking, the highest percentage was linguistic factors including grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Language is not only used as the means of communication, but also the device of achieving dominance. This article aims at describing and analyzing the real meaning of bharata and revealing misinterpretation on the meaning of bharata by Buton Kingdom for political dominance device on four surrounding kingdoms: Muna, Tiworo, Kaledupa, and Kulisusu in the 17th – 20th centuries. The study was designed descriptive qualitativey with four steps of framework: (1) exploring data, (2) data verification, (3) analysis, and (4) writing results of analysis. Data were analyzed by applying Wodak’s critical discourse analysis approach (CDA). Results of the analysis concluded the real meaning of bharata is “front area and center of battle”. The term of bharata was firstly acquainted by Laki Laponto, the king of Buton at the beginning of 16th century when he organized military alliance by involving the four surrounding kingdoms to face Ternate’s threaten. Since at the beginning of 17th century people of Butonese misinterpreted the meaning of bharata subjectively for political interest. Buton kingdom then established their misinterpretation instituonally and performed hegemony to the four surrounding kingdoms by the assistance of Dutch after welcoming and signing bilateral coalition with Dutch at the beginning of 17th century.
The objective of this study this research is to describe the forms of the address term of Bugis language In Komba-Komba Village Kabangka District Muna Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis by using some techniques of collecting data such as: 1) Observation, 2) Elicitation, 3) Recording and 4) Noting. After the data being collected, the researcher analyze the following steps: 1) Transcript the data, 2) Making classification of gather data relating to greeting term, 3) Making description for last generalization objectively based on the script of data found in the field of the research. Data analysis in this research was analyzed by a functional grammar approach (Halliday, 1985) namely Field, Tenor, and Mode. The scope of this research is limited by the use of address term of Bugis language which is used in the circle of the family according to society that occurred in the formal and informal situation. The result of this research showed the address terms of Bugis language has three forms of the address term namely: 1) Address terms in Family 2) Address terms in Community 3) Address terms based on position (noble).
This thesis is about the analysis of speech acts found in the talk show “Hitam Putih” on Trans 7 (Episode 18th December 2017). The research question of this thesis were (1) What kinds of the illocutionary acts used in host and main guest stars utterance in “Hitam Putih” talk show? And (2) How perlocutionary acts implied in host and main guest stars utterance in “Hitam Putih” talk show?. The objectives of this research were to identifying and analyze the types of the illocutionary acts and the perlocutionary acts implied in host and main guest stars utterance in “Hitam Putih” talk show. This research used a qualitative method to describe and analyze the utterances. The technique of data collection were (1) Download the video of talk show Hitam Putih from YouTube. (2) Transcribe the conversation by listen to the video in several times. (3) Reads and observes dialog from the script. (4) Classified the types of illocutionary acts which finding in conversation. The technique of data analysis were (1) The researcher identified the illocutionary act and perlocutionary act from the host and main guest stars utterance in Hitam Putih talk show. (2) Described and analized the utterances which include illocutionary and perlocutionary acts by using pragmatic approach. (3) Concluding the data analysis. The result of this thesis show that assertive illocutionary acts is the dominant types of speech act. There are 29 assertive of illocutionary acts, 14 directive of illocutionary acts, 15 expressive of illocutionary acts, 1 commissive of illocutionary acts. Perlocutionary acts which occurs between the speakers and the listener in the form of give statements, give questions, body language, expressions, and following the speaker’s direction.
