L’altérité continue de constituer, au sein de la société comme au sein de l’institution scolaire, une source d’angoisses, de tensions et de malentendus. La recherche transculturelle a permis d’identifier les facteurs de vulnérabilité et de protection liés à cette situation transculturelle. Elle a montré l’importance de la transmission de la langue maternelle nous amenant à réinterroger nos modèles scolaires monoculturels. Elle a aussi mis en évidence les effets potentiellement négatifs du contre-transfert culturel, également à l’œuvre au sein de l’école. Afin d’accompagner les professionnels scolaires, les élèves et leurs parents dans l’élaboration de cette diversité, nous avons développé le premier dispositif de médiation scolaire transculturelle, qui s’inscrit dans le nouveau modèle de l’inclusion, scolaire comme sociétale.
