O sequestro corneal é uma patologia estabelecida a partir da necrose do estroma que leva ao desenvolvimento de uma pigmentação difusa ou bem demarcada, com variações entre preto e dourado. Essa doença é grave e afeta os olhos de felinos de diferentes idades, sendo que o tratamento precoce e apropriado evita complicações como dor e a perfuração ocular. O prognóstico é frequentemente favorável, porém há riscos de recorrência caso o tratamento não seja realizado adequadamente. O objetivo desse trabalho é relatar um caso de sequestro corneal unilateral em um felino da raça persa de dois anos de idade, o qual foi corrigido a partir de ceratectomia superficial.
A doença do trato urinário inferior dos felinos (DTUIF) é um problema frequente na rotina clínica, que resulta em alteração no padrão de micção. A obstrução uretral em gatos enquadra-se na DTUIF e representa grande risco à vida, e ocorre principalmente pela formação de urólitos que impedem o fluxo urinário, podendo desencadear uma azotemia pós renal e falência renal aguda obstrutiva. Há diversas hipóteses sobre a formação e desenvolvimento das urolitíases, mas nenhuma delas é muito bem elucidada, podendo ocorrer de forma isolada ou simultânea. Ao longo dos anos, a prevalência do tipo de urólito em felinos foi alterada, principalmente devido a modificação dietética implantada com o objetivo de prevenir o surgimento de urólitos de estruvita, o que aumentou a casuística de oxalato de cálcio em gatos. Esse trabalho tem como objetivo contribuir para o entendimento da fisiopatologia envolvida na formação dos dois principais tipos de urolitíases na espécie felina e auxiliar no diagnóstico, tratamento e prevenção em cada caso.
A urolitíase é a segunda enfermidade de maior ocorrência no trato urinário inferior dos felinos. Nos gatos domésticos, verifica-se que a composição dos cálculos é variável conforme a idade, sendo os de oxalato de cálcio mais comuns em animais entre sete e nove anos e os de estruvita em animais jovens. Diversos fatores predispõem o desenvolvimento da enfermidade, tais como genética, dieta, ingestão hídrica e alteração do pH urinário. Existem diagnósticos diferenciais na espécie para a doença e o médico veterinário deve estar atento ao histórico, sinais clínicos e exames complementares para que o diagnóstico correto seja feito. Fatores como a localização e o tamanho do cálculo mostram-se de extrema importância para a escolha do tratamento.
A Cardiomiopatia Arritmogênica do Ventrículo Direito (CAVD) é uma enfermidade herdada geneticamente que consiste em morte dos cardiomiócitos e substituição por tecido fibroadiposo. São raros os relatos de caso em felinos domésticos. Sinais clínicos como síncope, insuficiência cardíaca direita e arritmias são sugestivos da doença, porém, algumas pacientes podem ser assintomáticos. Exames complementares como eletrocardiograma, ecocardiograma, radiografia e análise histopatológica são importantes para o diagnóstico. O elevado risco de morte súbita torna desafiador o tratamento e controle da doença.
