In order to support sea transportation services, the development of industrial processing (to keep pace with demand) must be included into the integrated economic strategy or economic corridor in the Masterplan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia’s Economic Development in the East. Indonesia also plays an increasingly large role in the global economy and a number of bilateral trade agreements. This is reflected in the improvement in Indonesia’s debt rating when the ratings of other countries have actually decreased. Through the MP3EI steps, the acceleration and expansion of economic development will place Indonesia as a developed country in 2025 with a per capita income of USD14,250-USD 15,500. To achieve this goal, real economic growth is needed of around 8.0%-9.0% per year between 2015 and 2025. Keywords: Master Plan, Containers, Economic Development
Currently, the movement of goods between islands is mostly carried out using containers. This is because containers are more efficient and effective, and provide a guarantee of safety for the goods being transported. This advantage needs to be fostered with a planned transportation system to facilitate further efficiencies. The positive effects of this would include shippers receiving lower tariffs, and shipping lines getting guaranteed availability of goods. Tarakan Port, currently under the management of PT Pelindo IV, continues to improve as a port for cargo consolidation, especially in dealing with the Asia Pacific region. This study evaluates the improvement already displayed by the port administrators, collecting data through observations, opinions, and documentation which is then analyzed using a quantitative approach using the IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) method. The results are juxtaposed with the development of port operational performance data to see the conditions expected for the port to be able to provide services efficiently and effectively. The results of the analysis and evaluation show that there are still gaps that need to be corrected, especially in the aspects of facilities, infrastructure and human resources. Addressing these issues will increase the regional competitivity of the port and reduce logistics costs. Keywords: Cargo Consolidation, Competition, Ports
Makassar City is one of the world's cities in the Eastern Indonesia Region. As the capital city of South Sulawesi Province, it should have adequate transportation facilities and infrastructure to support the continuity of economic growth in the Eastern Indonesia Region. The density of land transportation modes is increasingly not controlled by the growth rate of vehicles. This was not supported by road construction, resulting in congestion on city roads. Seeing the polemic that has occurred in the city of Makassar regarding congestion, it is necessary to conduct a more in-depth study of the policy making implemented by the city government. Congestion in land transportation modes is one of the obstacles to the rate of economic growth in developing cities, not only in Makassar but in other cities as well. One of the solutions to overcome congestion that occurs in big cities is to develop other, more economical modes of transportation. The development of inland water transportation is one alternative to divert land transportation modes that are problematic with congestion. One of the supporting factors for the development of inland water transportation modes is when there is a traffic jam on the road.
